Ouch, what kind of tree is this? I had a similar situation at my house a few years back and it looks the same.

A Bradford Pear Tree. Here it is back in 2018 after a big snow. If my wife's car was in the same spot as in this picture it would have fell on it.

We lost our Bradford Pear tree in Hurricane Ike in 2008.  Beautiful tree but they don't do well in wind and ice.

I was told to use Cleveland Pears. I think they are a lot stronger.

I absolutely despise decorative pear trees. They've become invasive. 

 

Replace it with a yoshino cherry tree. Fast growing, prettier, won't stink, not invasive, better for the bee population.
