Yeah Landon is good but the real talent are his younger brothers Aydon & Ashton. They will definitely help The Big Moe get back to winning

Has Highlands ever beaten Moeller?

No, I believe Highlands is 0-3 vs Moeller. Two bad losses in the early 90s and a really close one in '97. Moeller actually had to come back to win late in '97.

Looking at it strictly on the Moeller side, this is about as good a time as any I can recall for Highlands to play Moeller.

Please stop... I thought you had more football sense than this 😛

My comment has absolutely nothing to do with the current state of the Highlands program or team. My point is all about where Moeller is. Their program is down and they are playing a game that has zero meaning for them.

By Calpreps rating, Moeller would be tied with South Warren as 8th best team in KY. In Ohio, they are 59th best team.

I remember that game-that was a great game.

To state the obvious, Ohio has a lot of depth.

I followed Moeller fairly closely back then. One of my best friends had a few family members who cycled through Moe's football team in the late 80s and early 90s.

In 1993 Moeller beat Highlands 44-22 the first week in September and then two weeks later they beat Cov Cath 24-7.

Then in 1994 Moeller beat Highlands 54-15 in the first week of September before beating Cov Cath 14-10 a couple of weeks later.

Then in 1997, Moeller beat Highlands 21-20 before beating Cov Cath 21-12. Moe had RB Grant Crothswaite who played at Miami (OH) and kicker Tom Pucke who was 1st Team All-State as a junior and senior. Crothswaite was deadly in the open field, and Pucke consistently hit field goals at 45 yards+...they made for a hell of a challenge for the Bluebird and Colonel defensive fronts.

I've said this a couple times about my time at Moeller.  The Football team went 46-1 while I was there (1974-1977 seasons).  3 Ohio state titles.  2 National Championships.  Good time.

Doesn’t get much better than that!

So not to completely sidetrack this thread...but Ohio playoffs are under way right now. Did Moeller opt out?

So I guess this game was being kept on the schedule as a contingency plan in case they lost?

When the OHSAA modified their season to start playoffs in Week Six, they kept a provision in that teams could play another game after they were eliminated. As you said, I suspect Moeller felt they’d be eliminated before the Highlands game and therefore decided to keep it on the schedule.
