Henry Clay Coach Sam Simpson retires.

Per the HC Instagram account Coach Simpson has retired. He coached for 27 seasons and accumulated 193 wins along with producing numerous D1 athletes.

Coach Simpson took over a Henry Clay team that went 0-10 in 1992 and had them playing for the 4A state title against St. Xavier three seasons later. Career record of 193-131.

I had it in my mind that he had been head coach at Woodford County but he was an assistant. Human memory is not a reliable source.

Coach Simpson was a CJ All-State guard in 1976 in addition to his head coaching career at Marion County and Henry Clay.
