ConverseAllStar 169 Posted January 26, 2019 Here's a list of 8th Region schools ranked by '17-'18 male enrollment with region championships since 2000 in parentheses: Simon Kenton - 958 Oldham County - 844 (7) South Oldham - 680 (3) Collins - 639 (2) Anderson County - 544 (1) Grant County - 565 North Oldham - 519 Shelby County - 525 (3) Spencer County - 470 Henry County - 367 Owen County - 282 Walton-Verona - 270 Carroll County - 260 Gallatin County - 264 Trimble County - 188 Eminence - 115 Williamsontown - 107 *I believe Collins is only 9 years old. Shelby County's last region championship was in 2010, the year before the split. *During that time period, Scott County won the region twice and Bullitt East won it once. Mack The Knife 1,005 Posted January 26, 2019 How long has Simon Kenton in the region? I believe since 2005-06.
Mack The Knife 1,005 Posted January 26, 2019 The last small school to win was Carroll County in 1972. Carroll was runners-up in 1971, 75, 88, and 89. They beat Oldham County in the 31st District Final in 88 and 89, but the Colonels turned the tables in the Regional championship. The only other small schools to make it to the finals since then were Owen County in 1996 and Gallatin County in 2008.

IMO, the number of titles answers your question.
True blue (and gold) 4,357 Posted January 26, 2019 I wouldn’t think that this would be unique to the 8th region.
16thBBall Fan 3,348 Posted January 26, 2019 Seems to work for everyone but Simon Kenton. It's strange that the largest school in the region has never won it in the last 13 or 14 years.

UK#1fanisback 10 Posted January 27, 2019 Oh I know I was talking just on the 8th region. I know. As long they are shooting good they can't be beat. When the 3s don't drop they lose.
Neerfan25 18 Posted January 27, 2019 I completely disagree, SK loses when they get intimidated by the other team. They get real hesitant with their cuts and nobody seems to want the ball.
