True blue (and gold)

Bishop Brossart 47 Ludlow 28

Recommended Posts

I watched some of this game, it was pretty competitive. I thought Ludlow was decent.

Good win Brossart.

Nice night for the Mustangs. Overcame some inconsistent play on offense to put up 48 points. Brossart needed a lot of gang tackiling tonight because Blackburn runs hard.

Several things stood out to me....1). Chase Keller, QB Brossart throws a nice ball when given time....Bryce Donnelly, WR is a solid receiver for Brossart with separation caliber speed. Good HS combo. 2). Blackburn is a competitive warrior on both offense and defense for Ludlow. Unfortunately, he may receive a two game sabbatical for an unsportsmanlike flag late in 4th quarter. Not sure, but it appeared he was ejected for something he said to an official when Brossart retained possession on what clearly appeared a Ludlow recovery of a fumble.

With some discipline Ludlow would be a heck of a ball team. Too many penalties and they seem to come out with less gusto in the second half. Their record should be a lot better than it is and they tend to beat themselves. All in all was fun game tonight.

Ludlow came to play and scored early on a 75 yard breakaway by the stud - Justin Blackburn in front of a standing room only crowd in Alexandria. Brossart answered twice in the remainder of the period and appeared to be taking over, when Ludlow scored with :35 to go in the half, giving them a 14-13 lead at intermission.

Brossart owned the third quarter scoring three unanswered touchdowns to take a 33-14 lead and never looked back.

Ludlow fought back to start the fourth quarter as Eads found Matthew Reusch in the endzone, making it 33-21 with 6:49 to go in the game, but lost all hope when Chase Keller ran for 26 yards and a Brossart touchdown at he 4:51 mark. Later Sophomore Mason Dennis intercepted a Ludlow pass for a Pick-6 and the Mustangs led 47-21. T.C. Eads ran for a 26 yard score with 2:10 to go in the game to produce the final score of Brossart 47, Ludlow 28.

On the night Chase Keller threw for three touchdown passes, his 13th, 14th, and 15th of the season, while Bryce Donnelly scored four touchdowns, his 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of the year. Jake Sendelbach connected on 5 of 6 PAT attempts.

Mustangs improve to 4-2 on the season and move on to host the red-hot Bracken County Polar Bears next Friday night in Alexandria at 7:30pm.

Ludlow drops to 2-4 on the season and host Dayton next week.

Good to chat with Oldercoach as usual, and thank him for keeping us apprised of the Bracken-Paris game score.

He picked up 2 unsportsmanlike penalties thus the ejection. He can't keep his mouth shut and killed his team with the first penalty. Maybe the 2 game suspension will teach a valuable lesson.
