Ran up the score?

I know right! Thought it was comical. He was an older fella and he really shouldn't have worn that old Knothole jacket with the patches and his last name on the back of it. Hahaha!

This same question is asked on here twice a year without fail - after Cov Cath loses to HHS in the regular season, and after they lose in the playoffs.

That could have happened vs any local team in a late round playoff game.

They come because old people like to live in the past. By any objective measure in 2015, this is not a top rivalry or major rivalry. Maybe it used to be. Close games, blowout games, regular season, playoffs - doesn't matter, the outcome is always the same.

If Cov Cath couldn't get it done this year, when does it happen?

You missed it when I said "between these two schools" part didn't you. If you still don't think so, well, you are entitled to your opinion as well as I am.

For those of you that think this isn't a rivalry between these two schools' date=' you are fooling yourselves. Largest home crowd of the season for Highlands. I would argue probably largest crowd for CCH vs a NKY opponent. Why would all those people continue to come? I know why, because it's HHS/CCH! And listening to comments on the field and heading to the cars, post-game, nothing really out of character, "Go Pulaski" by one passerby, and 100% true comment by another in "can't believe they ran the score up", I can gaureentee its still a rivalry. And oh yeah, the basketball season just got a bit interesting too! That will be fun. That rivalry by some just jumped 1000% if that's possible. Folks, it's still a rivalry![/quote']

You certainly have my curiosity piqued with the basketball comment.

It was nice to see the stands full. The Blue Boys travel well and I for one believe it puts a little pep in our step. Nothing like November football and a win against CCH. No blue pants but I Heard it was late arrival day at school. HHS had there day on Wednesday. LOL

I posed the question on the Highlands basketball thread.

It still gets testy. I even saw the Ft. Thomas police in the stands the entire second half up near the press box. Does anyone who was sitting up there know what that was about? Was someone upset because reality set in that they were losing again?

It is and always will be a big rivalry in NKY, due to the proximity of the teams to each other.

Until CovCath starts winning some, it's not that big of a deal to the rest of the state.

Truth be told, CovCath hasn't had the talent to compete with Highlands or any of the other big boys in 20 years. CovCath, much to the dismay of alumni and fans, is a soccer and basketball school. You can even throw some really good baseball teams in there but they are nowhere near interesting or relevant in football, haven't been in 20 years, and may never be again. Those of you who argue against that fact are just fooling yourselves. This is a one sided rivalry. Matter of fact it isn't and probably won't be a relevant rivalry ever again.

You had me until the last sentence.

I think CovCath has had a little more football talent than you give them credit for but CovCath has had a "Low Football IQ" especially when you consider the strength of the other major sports programs at CCH and I consider Soccer a major sports program along with Basketball and Baseball.

I, for one, think we are going to see a change for the better at CCH and this will become a more competitive rivalry moving forward.

Curious as to why you think this RU? Is it because of Eviston?

In large part.

Also, we all know that CovCath is a basketball school but with the Basketball program having such great success (and more on the horizon) I think it makes it easier for the Basketball Powers to be benevolent towards the Football program. Not to mention when you are bringing in some of the best basketball talent in the area there is no need for the Hoops program to be at odds with the Football program.

Educate me. What two teams have met more consistently in the playoffs than HHS and covcath? They stand in each other's way almost every year.

Ask any current player. That player will tell you. It's a rivalry.

This. Highlands players don't want to be the ones to stop the streak. CovCath players do. Might not mean much to the rest of the state, but here it remains a big deal.

From an outsider's point of view, I think you are correct on both counts. Luster has been lost from a "global" point of view, but still has local relevance.
