If Woodson had played 4 quarters in both games his stats would be better. Brooks and Woodson are doing whats best for the team to win games.

Obviously, but the same could be said for most of the Heisman candidate QBs.

I'm just saying that Woodson could have racked up a lot of yardage and possibly more TD's in the second half against EKU.

I bet its not as much as Brohm could've put up in the 2nd against Murray.

I'm not really too concerned with Woodson's statistics at this point. Kentucky was working hard to establish a running game with their 3 great RB's and inexperienced offensive line in the first two ballgames. If they had wanted to, they could have called more passing plays to try and get Woodson the numbers, but bottom line: that is not what is going to win games for this team. To win later in the season UK will HAVE to be able to run the football effectively, so I'm kind of glad that the running game took precedent.

Woodson has just as much talent and ability as ANY other QB in college this year, and when he gets the opportunity he will show everyone just how good he really is.

This thread is pretty pointless at this point in time. Wait a few more games into the season. Like RP said UK's schedule has been better than UofL's but it's only 2 game. Brohm had to stay in while Woodson was pulled. They are all solid and it will sort itself out. Way to early to judge IMO.

I agree that he will be called on to do more in the SEC as it is very difficult to put up the numbers the backs have so far. UK has 3 running backs in the top 25 of yards per carry in D1 right now (Little, Dixon and Smith). Allen from UL is also in the top 25 right now. However, those numbers for the UK backs will drop once they get into SEC play, but I still like UK's ground game right now. I see Woodson's numbers being close to last year's when it is said and done, but slightly lower as the schedule went from around #23 SOS to #11 SOS.

As far as this goes, Woodson has done what he has been asked to do. Not throw the ball as much but be effective, throw some TD's, don't throw any picks, direct the offense, pick up first downs, etc. He has done that. But he will have to take fewer sacks and get rid of the ball quicker as the season wears on. I still think he and Brohm will be first round, probably top 10 draft picks in 2008.

Saying that Murray State is better than EKU has no basis in fact whatsoever. OH MY!!! But let's compare the 2 shall we, ... Murray was 1-10 last year and have a first year head coach trying to build a program from scratch, ... they are HORRIBLE right now! EKU beat them 51-21 last year. MTSU gave up 40 or more points in 5 of their 11 games last year while EKU was 6-5 with wins over WKU, #8 rated UT Martin at UT Martin and the only game they gave up over 30 points was to D1 Cincinnati (31 points). UL could have beat them by 100 had they chosen to, but showed a lot of class and did not attempt to embarass them. Of the 4 teams UL and UK have played, Murray is by far the worst in a landslide! I think MTSU looked better than EKU, but I think Kent State was the best of the 4 teams IMHO based on their win over Iowa State the week before UK beat them by 36 points.

UK had to work on their running game to better prepare for the SEC as while Little was a man last year, now they have 3 legit threats at the TB position and if it would have been a little better last year, they could have pulled out the UT and USC games and finished 9-3 with an even better bowl game appearance. If Woodson and Brohm had been asked to do more in the games when they destroyed their opponents, they would have, ... but they weren't and didn't have to.

I like Woodson. I really do, he's better overall than Boyd along with Lorenzan(sp) IMO. But best quarterback in NCAA right now, I'd go with Louisville's gunner, Brian Brohm.

You're definitely right, but we may be able to total that many yards against the Card's.

^ I really don't think so....I really think that if UK is going to win this game, Tamme, and Lyons have to have huge games...

I would suspect much of that will be corrected come Saturday.
I agree...I thought the defense looked very undisciplined and that was killing them. They were getting out of position, overrunning plays and taking bad angles and MTSU was getting huge gains as a result.

From what I saw, I'm inclined to agree with what most U of L fans are saying...a lot of the problems on defense can be fixed. I don't expect the Cardinal defense to turn into a juggernaut, but they can make some dramatic improvements with better discipline. Besides, their defense doesn't have to be great...just good.

As I said last week, I think this game will be determined by UK's defense. They have to slow U of L's offense down and get a few stops. The question is can they do it...I'm not sure.

I expect U of L's defense to play better, but I still think Kentucky will score plenty...I just don't think our defense will do enough for us to win. I'll stick with my first pick...

    Cards - 52
    Cats - 38

Not to mention...Kent State/EKU vs. MTSU/Murray State...regardless of who's schedule has been "tougher", they're all cupcakes for any D-1 teams that expect to have successful seasons.

Those games were just tune-ups...for what it's worth, Saturday will be the real start of the season for both teams, IMO. It should tell us a lot about both.

I'll give you that MTSU might be better than Kent State...there is no way that Murray State is better than EKU...and that pains me to say as I am a graduate of Murray State and attend their games. Murray is in another rebuilding year and will be lucky to win two games this year.
