Will Uchebo End Up at UK?

NC St commit who now doesn't want to go there due to the coaching change.

    Big rebounder interested in UK.

I want no part of him. I know he is a 4 star recruit but he looks very, very raw from the clips I've seen of him. Granted, I've seen some clips showing very, very good footage that might be gage of the talent he can be I just feel like it will be way too far down the line until he can contribute. I almost comapre it to how Vargas played for most of the year. Maybe I'm being a bit too greedy but I'd like to bring a big guy in (if its a big gu we do bring in) that will be able to contribute a bit more earlier.

Lacey being an exception, it seems to me that the guys we often talk about at this time of year are the table scraps, of sorts. It isn't my intention, but I know that sounds demeaning to a young man such as this. I guess I just feel like if we're looking for someone to contribute next season, I question whether a kid like this can. I understand UK got a very pleasant surprise from Josh Harrellson. But it seems that for every Harrellson there are ten Jared Carters.

Ultimately, I think you have to trust Cal. He and the staff have much more info on these kids, so if he feels it's worth a scholarship, then so be it.

The funny thing is three or four years ago we would be praying for a guy like this to commit.

Anyone remember Marshall Moses or Alter Majok? Oh how the times have changed, and thank the good Lord up above for that.

Think longer term people. UK still needs guys that will be around more than one (or two) years. It certainly would have been nice to have another big this year who had been in the system a couple of years.

I've heard this guy is a project. I don't think he was very impressive during the workout the other night either.

Would a 6' 10" "project" really be all that bad right now for Kentucky? Put some weight on him, work on his technique and maybe you end up with a 4 year contributor??

Ummm...I'll take him. Why not? If Cal can turn Harrellson into a major contributor why not this guy? And he'll get 4 years to mold if. If nothing else the guy could be a shot-blocker.

Not sure Cal turned Harrellson into a contender as much as Demarcus, Daniel, Pat, and Enes did.

I don't recall Vargas coming in being billed as a "project", but more of a finished product? While a disappointment from the hype surrounding him, he still contributed; and may be even better next year? More a case of him being over-hyped maybe? 6' 10"--225 says "get me into a college weight program" to me, and he's a 4 star for a reason. UK needs some 4-year kids they can work with and build on--Hopefully Jorts was the first of many??
