Kentucky/West Virginia Predictions

Page 2 of I think they may have fallen victim to looking ahead to Ohio State. Hopefully they got a little attitudinal adjustment with such a close game, and will... 43 comments | 1692 Views | Go to page 1 →

One game, and you're making a decision off that?

I think that was the game that could have cost UK. Since they survived I look for a much better game tomorrow and a 7-10 point win.

Well, now that UL is out, I have to pick a new team to root for. The question now is:

Morerhead? The team that beat us, but what a great "Cinderella" story it could be.
Big East Team _____? Go with the conference allegience?
UK? The "other" big name team from Kentucky?
    Another team?

Not sure who to root for from this point forward.

If Knight goes 1-8 again, UK loses.

Huggins and company send the Cats home again the year.

    UK wins.

For me I just want to see UK and how they will play against this WVA defense. They are physical and hard nosed. Not sure if UK has faced anyone that will rough them up the way WVA will.
    Should be a great game.

If UK plays remotely like they did on Thursday, they will lose by 20+. As I have said all along, any win in the NCAA tournament with this depleted roster is just more icing on the cake from my perspective.

The roster is not depleted. You have every player you started the season with. Now some teams have injuries and they have depleted rosters. Fact is Cal has the players he recruited and that is on him if the players cannot play. Now that is not saying he is a bad recruiter; he is an unreal recruiter. But you have a full roster...they just are not good enough to play.

    They don't have a full roster....They have 10 players.

Semantics. Thin roster with little margin of error. I am not trying to turn this in to a recruiting debate or Cal's ineptitude in completing this year's team, just stating the obvious that UK has 6 guys which contribute. 10 guys on a team (1 of which is a walk-on), is not a full roster, btw, but that was not the intent of my post.

West Virginia isn't much deeper than UK. I think the Cats win a close one, 71-66.

Something I was thinking about after yesterday's near disaster....Last week in the SEC tournament, the Cats played a during the week (Friday) afternoon game, and were sluggish and almost got upset. They then dominated 2 consecutive days during early games on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe they just don't like playing the mid week day games.

West Virginia bench is not deep at all. They have been hit hard this year with injuries and other things.

I do not think you are as off base as you think you are. We are all creatures of habit. Playing night games on a consistent schedule and suddenly thrown in to odd environments at whacky times of the day can often lead to whacky results... some times for the good, and sometime for the bad. Obviously the other team has to play under the same conditions, but not everyone responds the same. If you think about it, it always seems the crazy upsets take place at odd times and venues; the night sessions are usually less intriguing from that perspective.

One thing that worries me on this one is that WVU is very physical and strong inside, that has hurt the Cats this season. WVU's 1-3-1 zone hurt us last year but I feel our better shooting this season should help negate the zone. Jones HAS to show up and that worries me, I just hope that his trips through outer space lands him in this game on Saturday. Knight will most certainly have a better game, Miller has now stepped up i the leaders role that alot of us thought he would be at the start of the season. Harellson imo needs to and will have his usual game, U.K. will really need him on the boards and hopefully he will get some help.
I feel the Cats will get at least one more this season, they are playing their best now, when it counts......
