John Pelphrey Has Been Fired

Page 3 of If Tubby's hired at Arkansas, I predict around 20 wins and anywhere from 10 - 14 losses every year. I'm sure Arkansas fans will love his style of play!... 59 comments | 2205 Views | Go to page 1 →

I wonder, does anyone think that JP was not that good of coach? I have yet read anyone touching on his coaching, it's all about the recruiting class coming in.

My next question is will Travis Ford be next if they lose early in the NIT?

Didn't some posters want to hire John Pelphrey for UK's job?

He certainly hasn't proven that he can be "the man."

Ford & Pelphrey would never have been considered or discussed for the UK job had they not been former players. Being a former Cat only qualifies you in this way: you know how big the job is and the qualities it takes. Doesn't mean you have the qualities.

I think Pelphrey did a good job at South Alabama, but it seemed like there were always problems at Arkansas. I like Pelphrey, but he's better served as an Associate Coach somewhere.

As a coach you need players. He has a good class coming in that someone else is going to benefit from. He certainly had a mess when he got there.

Sadly, 5 years is considered a "long time" to build a program. Those are the rules. He didn't pass.

I thought he had only been there 4 years.

The other problem for Pelphrey at Arkansas was he is a Kentucky boy. That shortens their patience with him! They would never say it but the Arkansas faithful want a winner and if they are going to lose it is not going to be with a former UK player.

He created just as much, if not more mess than he inherited. Took way too many high risk recruits and it ended up costing him down the road...

Tubby is being mentioned. One paper says it's close to being finalized.

Wonder if he flies to Ark and do MN like he did KY. I guess 10 loss Tubby is done in MN, or is MN done with NIT Tubby.

I hope Smith comes back to the SEC and UK gives him an annual beating.
