    Call Me Crazy

I've been thinking about his one for about a month now, and after a few tournament wins I have made the decision to throw this out there. Does any one else get reminded of the 98' team a little bit with this group and the season they have had? They didn't lose as many games in 98' but played close games all season, just like this year, ended up winning the SEC tourney, then went on a magical tournament run when no one really expected them to win. Of course they would have to win it all to end up being a whole lot like the "Comeback Cats" but has anyone else saw the similarities or is it just me?

Obviously the selection committee didn't screw up the 98's team seed like they did to UK this year. UK should have been a 3 or 2 and it's beyond obvious now. I believe in 98 the team was a 2 seed.

They remind me more of 1997. A freshman class sandwiched between two outstanding classes.

Some vets who knew their roles (Prickett, Edwards, Epps) and talent in the lower classes (Mercer, Padgett, Turner, and Magloire).

And of course, the chance of meeting Arizona in the final four again still looms

They were a 2, this team should have more than likely been a 3.

The 1997 team was really good though, until DA went down could probably be considered one of the best in basketball and still were after his injury. They had a 1 seed in the tourney. People didn't expect them to be as good as they were the year before (The Untouchables) in 1996 but they surprised people by coming out and still being a really good team. I totally agree on the comparisons of the classes and team structure, but as far as how the season has played out I see a lot of 1998 in what has went on this season.

Yup I see the '97 team. Could even have that Derek Anderson moment if UK doesn't win it all now. Everyone will think "what might have been" had Kanter been allowed to play, even though his situation and Anderson's are completely different.

I see the player comparisons but the 1997 team could possibly have been considered the best team in basketball that year, this years team in no way shape or form could have been considered that. The 97' team also spanked a lot of teams while the 98' team and this years team were both involved in numerous close games. The biggest resemblance to me is how both the 98' team and how this years team both came together and got hot at the end of the year.

In that sense I agree. I think the makeup of this team just looks more like '97.

The make up definitely does, big time recruits mixed with gritty glue guys.

They don't remind me of '98 at all. But, that's just me.

Yep, definitely starting to remind me of the 1998 season.
