This is over the line on so many levels. Thoughts?

There are many days I would have starved.

At bare minimum, the school better do a heck of a better job in quality control than we had at times.

For some reason I just keep thinking that the federal school lunch subsidy is involved in the decision making process. I hope not.

I respect the administration's desire to help the kids eat right. However, parents should be allowed to send what they want in a lunch. Geez, save taxpayer dollars if the kids bring food from home. I am all for public education, but not public parenting.

How strong is our education system that we have our leaders focused on items such as lunch! It must be darn near perfect.

Seriously, there are a lot of problems with this mandate and many were brought up in the article.

Do the public schools provide lunch choices for vegans? Ethnic groups? Religious dietary issues?

The school's job is to provide a safe place to educate my child. I'll feed my child as I please. Unless I'm simply too poor the school system needs to pick its battles and focus on THEIR primary job .

Are they going to start mandating what time I send my kids to bed in the name of better student performance? How about what TV shows I allow them to watch?

Ya think? Remember, this is Chicago and Chicago politics, aka Kick Back Central. I guarantee this has little to do with nutrition and a whole lot to do with the food provider getting paid. No way they'd do this to mine, especially if I had to pay.

I would only like the idea if they served Covington Catholic style lunch food.

She would have to get a court order to keep me from sending a packed lunch with my child. Why do people put up with this kind of crap.

Another example of a public employee acting like a dictator. She's thinks she has the right to tell parents how to raise their kids.

You naied it, kind of like what has been trying to go on in D.C. on a much larger scale . Oh wait, the person in charge there came out of Oprahville as well, sounds familiar.
