If you are on twitter.com click on "messages" at the top. It's like the BGP PM.

I went to the University of Dayton, which is a fairly large Catholic school that draws from all over this region of the country. As such, my friends from school are now spread out in Cincinnati, Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, etc... Twitter has been a really fun way to have conversations with them, especially recently as we've talked back and forth about the NBA and NHL playoffs. For me, it's an even easier and more fun way of keeping in touch with old friends than Facebook ever has been.

How so? I find that if you're looking to have a digital convo with friends that FB is much better.

It's almost never all of us having one conversation. And in that situation, where you're talking to several people about different things, the Twitter feed is much better than Facebook, I find. It's also not important that we have a very in depth conversation. It's usually a string of one-line comments about Zdeno Chara's ability to somehow make a 6-8 frame look graceful on skates or how high LeBron's headband sits on his head (nearly vertical at this point). The ones I talk with most are all the other writers and editors I worked with on the college newspaper... we're comfortable with brevity.

You have to make your whole page private. People will have to request to be a follower and you have to approve them. If you are just trying to send someone a private message send a direct message.

Sounds like a lot of trouble. I guess I'll just follow BGP, read the local paper and turn the television on every once in a while.

I use it personally for news and I have a classroom twitter page for my students to follow.
