Waterfront Restaurant Breaks Loose with 150 on Board

The Waterfront floating restaurant has broken loose from it's moorings on the Covington riverfront, floated downstream a short distance, and lodged against the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge. The concern now is that it could come loose and take off down river. There are reportedly about 150 people still on board. The coast guard and private tugboats are on the scene trying to stabilize the structure.

I wondered about the possibility of this earlier today. This has to be a horrific dining experience, I bet they are making some money on top shelf stuff right about now.

They said it moved about 100 feet. They're taking people off one-by-one right now.

At the rate they're going, it's going to take all night to get all the people down the fire ladder that leads to the shore.

I think Jeff Ruby is learning his lesson about being the only floating reastaurant that stayed open despite the flood.

Ruby is on the boat now. Authorities let him on, and he said it was the general manager's call to open or close because of the water. I thought he said he's been there 27 years, so he fully backed his decision.

And for Neerfan, authorities made them close the bar.

Cris Collinsworth and the President of Cincinnati Bell are among those on board.

They said there's an emergency line that is still intact and holding the restaurant in place; so there is little danger of it breaking free.

That's nuts! I was thinking today driving across our bridge I wonder how much more pressure there is with this current.

It's ALL decided by the Army Corps of Engineers if anything on the water should close, and they said it was safe to stay open.

I like Ruby's comment about the "Our Barge isn't against any bridge, who told you that".....Duh!!!! Both the fire chief and police chief both agreed that it was partially being held by the bridge....Maybe Ruby should of got all his facts straight before getting on TV....The other classic was...."When I first got word, I didn't know if the barge was floating to Pittsburgh or what"....LOL!!!!!

This is another example of ridiculous hype on the news. They talked like the restuarant went flying down the river. I doubt anyone was ever in danger.

They were going by what they heard the fire department say.

And don't buy into Jeff Ruby's downplaying of the situation. There was reason for concern.
