I invite you NKY up to Boone Woods for some hoops this Summer. I play up there about 4 times a week and usually some pretty good HS players usually show up.

Another great exercise is to play a pickup soccer game. I played with 10 year holds today. Awful. The quick foot movement does not jive w an ex football player. I embarrassed myself, but came away with a greater appreciation for how athletic my boys are getting. I can play basketball still ok, but soccer is a different beast. As we left the field my neighbor was talking trash to me and I had to take it. I suck

Played basketball last week end and I know where you're coming from man. By the time Monday morning came around and it was time to get up for work, it felt like I got hit by a car. Shoulders and back were extremely sore. Legs not so much since I run on the treadmill a lot.
You are like 23. It gets worse.

The old man ran in a few games today along with some Cooper and Ryle players. I love being the last pick, I guess they think that "yellow shorts" (my appointed nickname today) isn't any good. Maybe playing with a thermal and sock hat didn't bode well.

Thanks to you sportsfan I've played 3 days in a row now. Surprisingly, I'm not sore at all.

Johnson Center at UK or outside at a local park. Once the good weather comes around, the outdoor courts are rocking down here. It's like an annual party on the first day of good weather.

I hadn't played in about 5 years and I'm thinking I may have to play again soon.
. No better cardio than basketball? Have you ever done about 3 hours of mma/jiu jitsu/kick boxing?

I haven't played in a few months, but now I'm going to have to make a stop at the JC later today because of all this talk. I love playing basketball, just never seem to have time anymore.

Been there, done that. I'm not nearly as good as my friends(multiple have won state, and national titles), but they say I don't wrestle right. I have NO problem picking someone up while in an arm bar and slamming them. I will admit it's always my smallest of friends that kick my butt.

If the arm bar is applied properly slamming will merely make it worse .

And I'm not talking about being good. It doesn't matter if you are good, it's a great work out.

I love some pick up ball. Where I live there is a lot of guys who play and there are actually a couple pretty good leagues around the area, they get after it. Some of my friends are dedicated they play three to four times a week. Usually on an average night there is always around fifteen to twenty people to play so you get some pretty good games in. I played at least once a week this time last year but this year have only played a couple of times since Christmas. Sad thing is I got new shoes to play in and everything and have only gotten to wear them three or four times. It's really enjoyable when you are around a bunch of guys you like. In one of the summer leagues here back home I was supposed to play with a couple of my buddies but when the time came I was so burnt out basketball wasn't even on my mind. I was in softball mode at that time and they played all the games on Friday nights, so Friday night in the summer playing ball didn't seem to inciting. I hadn't played in months and they talked me into playing one night because they were only going to have five or six there. I called it my out of retirement game (first time I had played in a league since school), I came out and went for 27, 11, and 6 and it was my finest basketball moment to date. I paid for it the next morning though, spent my whole weekend sore as could be, like I had been hit by a truck. Needless to say my fitness is not where it should be because playing a couple good games puts the hurt on me.

So in otherwords, I love getting in some good basketball. Even though I have been too lazy and too busy to fool with it lately.

I absolutely HATE it when I play for the first time in months and can't miss a shot. My best games I've ever played are "out of retirement games". Then, I go back the next day and it's obvious I hadn't touched a basketball in a long time. Weird how that works.
