Very dumb thing to do, yes, but the punishment definitely doesn't fit the crime.

Hmmm yea that's pretty fierce. She should be punished, but not with that much jail time; unless she's had past convictions as well?

I'm not so sure many people will agree with you that she should be punished...
Many people on here don't think the mother that let her baby die in a hot vehicle should lose her job much less be punished by the law...
I believe I would rather have a drunk kid than a dead one...

8 years or 27 months? Both are way over the top just for buying beer.

Not just buying beer. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lets see. Mother buys beer for kid and gets 27 month reduced sentence.
Mother leaves child in car, causing death and gets nothing. I don't know but to me something is terribly amiss here.

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?

I'm pretty sure anywhere you live buying beer for a minor is a crime. Where as in some states forgetfullness resulting in an accident is not. If you don't like the laws then pay attention when voting, and vote for the guy that wants to make changes so that the prosecutor can actually prosecute the mother who left the child in the car.

We should know better, Rule #9....

    9. No discussion of ANY criminal behavior (charged or uncharged) in the high school forums. Discussion of adult criminal behavior is permitted in all non-high school forums. However, discussion of criminal behavior by juveniles (anyone under 18) is never permitted anywhere on BGP.
