As someone who can't swim, this video instills complete feelings of terror in me.

Watching it live last night was bizzare. All I could think of was that old horror movie The Blob. While it looked slow on film they said it was moving like a jet. You could see the roads from overhead but the cars didn't know where the water was coming from. It would creep along and just swallow up cars trying to outrun it.

The Soviets said the same thing several years ago, I just don't see how they can have that much trouble and not much being leaked. PLUS, since I posted that, there was an expert on TV saying the amount that is (reportedly) being leaked per hour is the same that would be given off at the plant over a full year, which he says is nothing to take lightly and is still very dangerous. I just think their is more to the story, that will come out later.

The Chernobyl reactor did not have a containment building. This one does.

There is a lot of misinformation being spread and a great deal of (as usual) sensationalistic reporting going on. I, too, saw an "expert" on CNN a bit ago. Here was his comment: "Even if nothing else happens, this will be the third biggest nuclear power disaster in the world's history." Is he correct? Yes. However, that statement has sensationalism written all over it. Chernobyl was really the only disaster (again, without a containment building surrounding the reactor.) Three Mile Island (which is what would be listed as #2) had very little effect on the surrounding area/residents. So, if this is #3, it is only so because there is nothing else that even raises an eyebrow.

BTW...the focus on the "nuclear power/radiation risk" really takes the focus away from where the disaster REALLY is: check out these photos. http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2...-japan/100022/

Word is now that there may be a melt down going on now, they are not getting anything solid on it at this point.

I couldn't get the pic to open, but the comments said the pic was from 2010. I googled panda, police and earthquake and on the first link I opened it said the pic was repinned 7 weeks ago.

And if this is Japan, whenever it was taken, I guess it was a zoo or something? As aren't Panda's from China? Hmmm

Hmmm, Japan is actually on the North American plate? I never knew that. And the Pacific plate went under the part of the North American plate that Japan sits on?
