    Is anyone a bicycle commuter?

I'm toying with the idea of purchasing a bike to commute back and forth to work. Being honest with myself, I haven't touched a bike since I got my license. But I did use to like riding them all the time. I was looking for any advice from people who do this (even better if you live in Louisville).

If I can add a bike to use for the three days I have to go into the office then I can practically eliminate my car. As it is now, my car will stay parked for 3 or 4 days at a time very regularly since I mainly walk to everything besides work.

I would love to live close enough to work to ride a bike to work. But since I have 15 mile trip and would have to cross the bridge into IN I'll have to stick with driving. Plus I don't think my daughter would like to ride on the handle bars to school.

I have been pondering the same thing. I think it would be good exercise for me.

I was considering it. 7 miles one way is doable, but about a year or so ago, I came across an accident on the way to work. Somebody talking on the phone, had veered over into the bike lane and killed a cyclist on his way to work. That's the second one on that stretch of road I've seen. That pretty much put the kibosh on that idea.

Not a bicycle but I did get a motorcycle last year, partially due to gas prices. If you're looking for one just to commute I'm sure you could find and older 125-250 for pretty cheap. Now if you just want it to stay in shape too then never mind.

I've been borrowing a friends bike for two weeks now. I'm a big fan of commuting to work. My commute is somewhere between 4.5 - 5 miles depending on the route I take (I've been expirementing with them).

I commute by foot. I wake up, walk down the stairs, and sit down in my study at my laptop.

I'd give it up in a heart beat to commute to a job that I enjoyed though.

Well, I now have a medley. "I like to ride my bicycle....I like to ride my bike....Another one bites the dust!...and another one down, and another one down....another one bites the dust...."....

Don't leave it unattended in Old Louisville. I left mine chained to my girlfriend's porch and some dude sawed through the wood to steal it.
