I'm planning a trip (Philly, Boston, and Pittsburgh)

I have decided that I am going to just get in my car and drive. I have quite a few vacation hours to burn that I am probably going to lose come July 1st if I don't use them. I have never been up to any of these cities so figured I'd just take a road trip and him them all up.

I really don't have an iternary at all yet and I'm just looking for good ideas of places to visit on my trip in these three cities, or in between them. I'm looking for historic sites, famous restraunts (Travel Channel type places), or just random cool/cliche things to do.

To give you an idea what I definitely plan on doing...

Basketball Hall of Fame - Springfield, MA
Samuel Adams Brewery - Boston, MA
    Cheers Bar - Boston, MA
    Freedom Trail - Boston, MA
    Yuengling Brewery - Pottsville, PA
    The historic sites of Boston
    Historic site in Philly
    Pirmatii Brothers - Pittsburgh, PA

So, I thought I'd put it out there, let's here it. Any other places I should definitely stop by on this excursion? Even if its kinda close but not in one of the citities I named?

I plan on cutting down some costs by crashing in my car on some nights. I know many of you will say cheap, but I also plan on packing a large cooler of drinks, lunch meat, and things of that nature to cut down on some random lunch costs since my gas expense will probably be pretty high, meaning I can spend money on some attractions if need be.

    So suggest anything...

Tour of Fenway Park if you haven't been there before....Worth the price, which I believe is something like $20 a person.

I appreciate the suggestions so far. Anyone else have anything for me? Famous restraunts, diners, historic places?

I think I'm going to swing by Gettysburg as well now.

I went to Pittsburgh last year for a day with some friends. We went to a Pirates game as well as ate Primanti Brothers, and to kill some time went to the duquesne incline and took some pictures. We also spent some time walking by the river and over to Heinz Field. You might want to get some Yeungling beer if you would like a good brew. At Primanti Bros. I suggest the colossial fish, the Pittsburger is also pretty good. IMO

The Cheers that is located in the main area of the city is a replica and not the real thing. The real one, as JD said, is a very small bar kinda out of the way.

Speaking of Rocky...what is the name of the building that has the steps in front of it that he runs up while Eye of the Tiger is playing? Is that in Philly?

I know that it is almost three months later, and I'm bringing a thread back up from the dead but I am leaving for my trip today after work.

I am driving out to Towson, Maryland first and seeing some good friends graduate. These are guys that I met last year while traveling for my International Fraternity. I plan on enjoying some graduation celebrations with them and then heading to Philly, Boston, and Pittsburgh. Lastly, I am going to be stopping at my grandparents on my way home. I'm really looking forward to the spontaneous of this trip and seeing what happens. I have a bunch of places written down and addresses for them, but not really sure where I'm going to go, what I'm going to see, where I'm going to sleep and etc. Just living the dream. As long as I'm back by June 10th I'm good.

Keep my adventures in your prayers lol

I haven't been there but have always heard good things about the harbor area in Baltimore. Annapolis is a little out of the way but is a neat little city if you like old and the Naval Academy is there. In Philly, definitely spend time in the historic district. The roots of America are there. Travel safely and let us know what you liked most when you get back.
