    Director Sidney Lumet Dies

Film director Sidney Lumet died Saturday at age 86. What a body of work this gentleman had. His works include:

    12 Angry Men
    Long Day's Jorney Into Night
    The Pawnbroker
    Fail Safe
    Serpico
    Dog Day Afternoon
    Network
    Prince Of The City
    The Verdict
    Running On Empty
Before The Devils Knows You're Dead

Lumet never won an Oscar, probably because he was not part of the Hollywood inner circle. His most egregious snub was not winning for "Network" in 1976. RIP, Sidney.

12 Angry Men, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon are 3 of my favorite movies of all time. Network is great as well, and I also enjoyed Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. I haven't seen a lot of the others, unfortunately.

I was sad to hear this news yesterday.

I recommend that you see "The Verdict" as Paul Newman gives his greatest performance, IMO. Definitely robbed of an Academy Award.
