For sites like Priceline and Hotwire you have to be certain of the dates you want to travel, and open to whatever may match your bid. The more restrictions you place on your bid, the harder it is to get a "cheap" match. The sites work by unloading "distressed" inventory, which is inventory that likely won't sell at "retail" rates. They are non-refundable as well. And it is almost impossible to get your money back. Typically, it's easier to get your money back if you book hotel rooms via those channels than airfare. Hotels are about 50/50 on agreeing to credit the site back, which is when the site will credit you back.

Southwest doesn't participate in OTA's (Online Travel Agenies, including Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, etc.)

I don't know what the fares are, but you may want to check out Frontier Airlines. They now fly out of Louisville. I did a quick check of leaving Louisville, economy class, and the fare was ~$417 roundtrip.

You can set your preferences to alert you when they feature a certain destination. They will normally last a few days or up to a week. For example, Nashville may be the travel city and virtually every destination to and from will be discounted.

Gotcha, I am going to Florida soon and was thinking about signing up to see if I can get a good deal.

From my experiences while working reservations be careful with Priceline type tickets. Unless things have changed they are usually bulk tickets that allow absolutely no changes. Be prepared to fly what you buy or lose it all.

I had a meeting in Denver one year. I had to fly through Det. As my plane landed the one I was supposed to be getting on was already in the sky. Couple feet of snow it was going to be stuck in the Det airport for about 12 hours. They said they could put me on a Frontier flight and I could leave within the hour. I jumped on it. I walked up to the window and there sat my plane...with Otters etc painted on the plane. I thought I might die because I'd never heard of Frontier. It might have been the best plane and flight I've ever had! I've only flown it that one time but it was great!

I've flown to Vegas many times. Always gone Southwest. Check the rates often, as they change daily. I've been looking for the last month and close to booking for again for this summer. Last year I booked a package deal thru the New York New York Casino that has both the room and flight together. I belive most hotels offer this option. I really like the non stop flight from Louisville to Vegas!

I'm about ready to book. Will be leaving the 3rd if June and coming back on the 6th. My brothers buddy already booked the rooms so I can't try to get a deal through the hotel. Thanks for the help guys or gals.
