16th Region Week 9 Review

By zebraman - The question for a while has been can any region teams beat Ashland. The general consensus was that the Tomcats were on a level all of their own. This week, Boyd County showed us the answer to that is yes, it can happen. Did it happen, no, the Tomcats did enough to win. However, the Lions showed they can compete. With the question answered that yes a region team CAN beat the Tomcats, we are still left with the question of WILL any region team beat the Tomcats? Time will tell 1) Ashland (Season: 23-0 This week: 3-0) Ashland maintained their view fro, the top of the hill for... Read More →

8th Region Week 9 Review: With a Footnote*

By ColonelMike - 8th Region Week 9 Review: With a Footnote* By Colonelmike It’s getting to be “that” time of the year. No, I’m not talking about tournament time – hold your horses, we still have three weeks to go before that. No, I’m talking about the time during the final third of the season when everyone seems to have one or two players nursing injuries, and spending time on the sidelines. It makes it hard to assess the real import of game results. How much, after all, is a victory truly worth when the losing team is missing key players? Is it real or a mirage? What can we really learn... Read More →

11th Region Week 9 Review

By mooremiller31 - Big District match ups took the headlines this week in the 11th Region. After some other results around the region I'm convinced you could take 7-8 teams and throw them in a hat to rank teams 3-10. The top two teams in the region have cemented themselves as the cream of the crop and some of our lower ranked teams picked up some impressive wins. Lets check out what all happened this week in the 11th Region! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (20-2) - The Knights only played 1 game this past week but it was a HUGE one as they traveled to Tates Creek and left with not only an impressive 14... Read More →

2nd Region Week 9 Review

By silo11 - Week Nine Review: Madisonville-North Hopkins continues to shine and is no doubt the best team in region 2. Really they are the only team in region 2 that has a chance for a state title. Webster seems to have lost some ground to some other teams, specifically Henderson County which seems to be doing very well now. Hopkins County Central has also started to make headway in the region as the rest of the teams are struggling in many ways. Here are the week 9 rankings: 1. Madisonville North Hopkins – BGP #8 Season record: 20-3 The Maroons won both games they had this week, both away... Read More →

Sixth Region Week 9 Review - Heading Toward a Great Post-Season

By Smallhoops - With three weeks left, the Sixth Region is shaping up to have a terrific post-season. Fern Creek and Butler appear to be the favorites, but several teams have a shot at the regional championship. The rest of the regular season, and the post-season, will be filled with good teams playing quality basketball. What more could you ask for? TEAM RANKINGS 1. Fern Creek Tigers (17-6) Fern Creek went 2-0 for the week, beating Bryan Station 75-44 and PRP 80-70. The Tigers have now won 10 of their last 11, with the sole loss being to Ballard in the LIT. Seventh Region Week 9 Review: Should We Just Jump To The Seventh Region Tournament?

By Smallhoops - Friday night's round 2 of the Male-Ballard battle for supremacy produced a 76-67 Male win and set things up for the rubber match between the two expected in the Seventh Region tournament. At least for those two teams, it may be that very little will matter until then. They both will win most, perhaps all, of their games until then, but what people will remember is who wins the anticipated third game between the two and probably represent the Seventh Region in the state tournament. I hope that game materializes, and I expect it to not be disappointing. But there still is something for... Read More →
