If modeling trends hold like they have Monday and Tuesday maybe bad days to travel on the highways.

Looks good for road conditions. Don't see any snow for now. Temps look to be in the single digits for today and tomorrow with below zero windchills for both days.

Here is a look at the brutally cold air that may be heading into Kentucky to start the New Year. On New Year's day, it looks that we will see morning temps below zero for most of Kentucky with windchills being in the double-digit below zero range. Couple this with the possibility of several inches of snow on the ground looks to be a bad day to be on the roads both days.

Thanks. We may extend our stay if we have to in order to avoid bad travel. Going down through Cumberland Gap and then through the Hillsville, VA area is not a good thing in bad road conditions.

I got a dislike for thinking nWo’s picture in his post was comical
I hope the disliker didn’t think I was laughing at the ultra cold and snowy forecast, because I wasn’t. I dislike cold and snow myself.

I knew what you meant. I actually started that a couple of years ago as a joke.

The outlook for temps and windchill have moderated some but they are still very cold at the start of the New Year. The models are still going back and forth on the snow so I'm not ready to post any predictions on the snow as of yet.

Here are the forecasted temps from New Year's Day morning to January 2nd.

Allow me to take the "heat" for you. I'm loving the ultra cold and snowy forecast!
