I’d say the larger of the 2’s back was no more than 3 feet high...maybe a yearling, so I didn’t shoot. She likes to hang out around my feeder so maybe will lure in a buck later. Also had 6 turkeys show up, then walked out to where my other son was sitting in his blind. All hens. Can’t shoot them since we bait with corn....rats. Also had a squirrel and rabbit show up, then a noisy large screech owl flying around the woods. Saw it in a tree as I walked out...probably a good 18 inches tall and a long wingspan when he flew away after I lit him up with the spotlight.

Just looked at trial cam pics and there is a buck with a huge rack I’ve not seen before further up in the hayfield nearer my mother’s house. It was at night so the pic isn’t great, but looked to possibly be a 10 pointer. He makes the 8 pointer look small. Now I wish I had a blind set up in that area....lots of bucks, but only after dark. Need to figure out how to get them out earlier so I can bag one.
Towards the end of October I start seeing more bucks during the day at my place. Hopefully the coolish weather and the pre-rut get him on his feet.

I've been practicing at the archery range at EP Tom Sawyer Park. That place is absolutely crawling with deer.

There were three of us shooting on the range the other night, right as the sun was setting, and four deer just walked around the fence right onto the range. As I was leaving the park that night, I counted 12 in the big field as I was pulling out.

I actually saw a small buck in that field earlier this week.

I’ll second that it’s crawling with deer. I’ve had the same thing happen a handful of times. I’ve had turkey do it too.

It’d be awesome if deer in Taylorsville or Bracken County acted that way.

I’m in the stand. Dude and his kid set up about 50 yards from me. Bummer.

You wouldn’t believe what just happened...

A nice buck came in right as they packed up to leave. He was going to walk right by my stand inside 20 yards. I can’t believe that happened.

That opening looks huge but it’s no larger than a few dollar bills. It’s mostly zipped closed.

Went out this morning in the pouring rain. I had a doe come in at about 10:30. Shot and missed.

I think my rain jacket messed with my shot. Bummer.

I did scout around later on, I followed a creek that forms a border between public and private land. Definitely a lot of deer moving through there, even saw a couple rubs. What had me really excited though was a permenant stand that I saw on the private side.

I’m thinking if someone built a permenant stand there, it’s got to be a pretty decent spot.

Most likely. Be careful hunting the fence line l.
