But he can write, thus he has talent. To say otherwise is just plain stubborness.

    Tal-ent [tal-uh nt] :

    1) a special natural ability or aptitude.

    2) a capacity for achievement or success; ability

Hank Jr. is extremely successful; therefore, by definition, he's talented.

    On this we agree.

Johnny Cash has his own style, I hear the first 3 words of any Cash song and I know it's him. Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, several artists have their own distinct sound and are appealing to different ears. All the following I have mentioned appeal to my ears, some others like Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, and Brantley Gilbert do not.

    Agree on Cash/Yoakam/AJ. All talented.

    Not Hank Jr.

How are we defining being successful?

It's sad that singing about high school love can get you a prestigious career. That's essentially all of her songs.

I've always said that many Bluegrass singers are very talented.

So you're saying Hank sings about an array of topics?

Re: Hank's ability to play musical instruments.

There are 1,000 guys in Nashville that can play as many and as well . Know what we call them?

    Bartenders.

Loving the South, drinking, partying with his friends, surviving in the country, even made a song for MNF. Yeah I think he's basically hits everything I enjoy.

Right. Not exactly an array of topics - just like Taylor Swift.

You didn't answer my question. Do you think he's a good singer?
So we take out the fact that he's very good on several different instruments, the fact that he writes songs and plays music that a certain group of people LOVE, because those things don't support your argument that he's not talented?

Can Drake play a guitar, fiddle, etc?

No. I said he can play instruments - like 1,000+ other people in Nashville. Was never my part of my contention.

We can all write songs. That doesn't mean we have a talent for it.

Add in that he can't sing and my point is made.
