I get it, I really do. But yeah, Rihanna is not my style.

I wish Beyoncé would let me be her Meek Mill.

My nephew is really into Bryson Tiller. Never heard him that I'm aware of.

To Pimp a Butterfly is growing on me as I listen more for the music and less of the cultural relevance.

I'm over the Drake/Meek situation with these last two records. Neither is bad, but the horse is dead.

Woman was trying to blow out her lousy car speakers yesterday morning on the corner of 6th and Ali with some DeJ Loaf. If I'm a speaker, that's how I'd want to go.

Almost forgot... Surf by Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment is getting serious spin right now. Free album on iTunes. It's not everybody's cup of cognac of course.

Remember when an artist would set a release date and then when that day came the album would be available in stores, or on iTunes, or on Limewire?

A thread about the 70s got me thinking, what's the best or your favorite 10 year stretch in rap? I'm really interested to see what some of the old heads see as the Golden Age.

94-03 and 95-04 easily top my list, though not necessarily in that order. Shaq's debut in 93 keeps 36 Chambers and Midnight Marauders out of my top three, so 04-13 takes the third spot.

I go old school when it first started becoming heard outside of NYC et al. It wasn't socially acceptable to be "into rap" in the late 70s/early 80s.

I'm biased but I'd say the golden age started in the late 80's and hit it's peak in the 90s. I feel like an old guy now because I think there are only a few good hip hop artist the last few years.

Thoughts on Views? I enjoyed it personally. It was a lot slower than anything I've heard from him before, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's a tough title to claim.

I was hesitant to buy it based on the number of songs actually. Made the plunge and it paid off. That "With You" track gets a lot of run while I do my front porch sitting.

Put the headphones on, sit back and relax while taking in all of this masterpiece once more. So freaking incredible...

Summer of 96 was the pinnacle of hip hop. Reasonable Doubt, Stakes is High, Beats, Rhymes and Life, It Was Written, Ridin' Dirty and ATLiens all dropped from June 25th to August 27th. Those were the days...
