steps
distance (based upon your height)
active minutes
calories burned (based upon your weight)
calories consumed (if you enter this information)
sleep
weight loss (if you enter this information)
Some more costly models can track flights of stairs climbed and heart rate.

I could see a cottage industry of dudes wearing multiple Fitbits and running up step count for several people at a time...form a small nominal fee!

Some devices can track via WiFi and don't need GPS. I'd think there would be an abundance of WiFi hot spots on a college campus...maybe these particular ones can't or don't track location but that wouldn't be much of a leap if a school wanted to.
I can see some Overly Aggressive Human Resources up and comer decide these would be good for everyone in their company to wear. Under the guise of tracking fitness.
