It has been a long time since at least one of these powerhouse teams weren't at the carpet. I have been watching football since the late 80's. I'm pretty sure most of these teams were in the finals almost every year. You can count Mayfield as well in A but they are still alive as well. If Bardstown beats Mayfield next week it will be the first time since 1990 even though Scribe already has said it that either Beechwood,Danville or Mayfield won't be in the title game. This is the first time since 1990 that either Cov Cath or Highlands isn't in the state semi finals.

Hey, thers still some traditional powers left, but, lets not forget some others who aren't there that usually are....Hoptown, Bell Co, Male, Breathitt Co., Corbin..Throw those into the mix with the ones you already mentioned and thats some real traditional teams out early, or, at least early for them...

The last time there was a set of championship games that did not include Beechwood, Boyle County, Cov Cath, Danville, and Highlands was 1980.

Even more incredible was that all five teams missed the playoffs that year, as did Mayfield, Pikeville, Bowling Green, and Hopkinsville.
