1. Male (7-0): Top-ranked Male continued to roll in its latest outing, blanking host Southern 53-0. Nearly perfect through the air, quarterback Elijah Parish completed 10 of 11 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Izayah Cummings was held out of the endzone but led Male in receiving, grabbing four catches for 83 yards.

Male is set to visit Fern Creek on Friday night.

2. Trinity (6-2): Bouncing back from a loss one week earlier, Trinity bashed visiting Ballard 45-7 on Friday, Oct. 11.

Running back Kyle Feger led Trinity to the victory, rushing 26 times for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Contributing through the air for the Shamrocks, quarterback Nathan McElroy completed nine of 22 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns.

Trinity has the week of Friday, Oct. 18 open.

3. North Hardin (7-0): Following an open week, North Hardin has regular-season remaining versus Barren County, Central Hardin and Pleasure Ridge Park. Quarterback Manie Wimberly leads the Trojans. Wimberly has completed 81 of 126 passes for 1,293 yards and 11 touchdowns while throwing only three interceptions.

North Hardin is scheduled to venture to Barren County on Friday night.

4. Manual (6-1): Much-improved Manual continued its turnaround season in Week 8, knocking off St. Xavier 20-19.

Sophomore JuWuan Northington helped to lead Manual to the win, rushing 15 times for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Delivering defensively for the Crimsons, Malachi Lawrence returned a fumble 35 yards for a another touchdown.

Manual is due to visit Pleasure Ridge Park on Friday night.

5. St. Xavier (4-3): The Tigers were limited to eight passing yards as Manual held on to win 20-19 in Week 8.

St. Xavier rushed 43 times for 234 yards and one touchdown in the setback.

Proven run stopper Hale Bohler led St. Xavier on the defensive side, recording 11 tackles.

St. Xavier will look to return to the win column when it hosts Butler on Friday night.

6. Central Hardin (7-0): The Bruins leveled another outmatched team in Week 8, blanking Barren County 38-0.

Central Hardin rushed 28 times for 348 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Deonco Wilkerson led Central Hardin, rushing 11 times for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Following Wilkerson, TreJean Sanders and Kyler Lee combined to rush 15 times for 161 yards while scoring two touchdowns apiece.

Central Hardin is poised to face host Meade County on Friday night.

7. DeSales (5-2): The Colts wouldn't be denied a win in Week 8, outlasting host Christian Academy-Louisville 35-28 in double overtime in a Class 3A, District 4 game. Now, looking ahead, DeSales is set to host Wan'Dale Robinson-less Western Hills on Friday night.

Running back James Johnson and quarterback Jayden Scroggins combined to lead DeSales to the victory over CAL. On the ground, Johnson rushed 28 times for 187 yards and one touchdown. Through the air, Scroggins completed seven of 13 passes for 103 yards and three touchdowns.

8. Fern Creek (6-2): Determined Fern Creek notched its fourth straight win in Week 8, fending off homestanding Bullitt East 21-18.

The Tigers rushed 40 times for 341 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Terrance Mitchell paced Fern Creek in the victory over Bullitt East, rushing 15 times for 210 yards and two TDs.

Fern Creek will need to put together a complete game to hang around in a contest versus visiting Male on Friday night.

9. Ballard (3-4): Again, Ballard boats a sub-par record but is among the Top 10 high school football teams in Louisville.

The Bruins' remaining regular-season schedule features opponents Eastern, Scott County and Henry Clay. Following the lopsided loss to Trinity, Ballard will visit Eastern on Friday night.

10. South Oldham (7-1): Dominant South Oldham rolled to its seventh straight win in Week 8, drilling North Bullitt 44-10.

Continuing lead the Dragons, running back Keaton Martin rushed 12 times for 118 yards and three touchdowns.

An overtime loss to Christian Academy-Louisville in Week 1 is all that separates South Oldham from being undefeated.

South Oldham is headed into a matchup at Seneca on Friday night.

Big Risers

1. Central (4-4): Improving Central evened its record to 4-4 with a win over Waggener. Dayshawn Mucker rushed 28 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns as Central defeated Waggener 26-14.

Central is slated to visit North Oldham on Friday, Oct. 18.

2. Kentucky Country Day (7-0): The Bearcats remain undefeated and boast the state's highest RPI (.864). In Week 8, Kentucky Country Day beat fellow unbeaten Berea. Running back Dorian Heard led Kentucky Country Day to its latest victory, rushing 14 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns.

Kentucky Country Day is scheduled to venture to Frankfort on Friday night.

Big Droppers

1. Christian Academy-Louisville (4-4): A double overtime loss to district rival DeSales stopped any momentum Christian Academy-Louisville carried out of a convincing victory over Henry County one week earlier. Christian Academy-Louisville has the week of Friday, Oct. 18 open.

2. Southern (3-4): After opening the season 3-2, Southern has suffered back-to-back losses, losing to Kentucky Country Day and Male.

The Trojans are due to visit Bullitt East on Friday night.

Last Week's Game of the Week

Continuing its rise, Manual needed only 215 yards of total offense to edge St. Xavier 20-19 in Week 8.

The Crimsons' defensive unit thrived in the victory over St. Xavier, recording an interception and returning a fumble for a touchdown. Offensively, Manual rushed for two touchdowns during the winning effort.

Player of the Week

Kyle Feger, Trinity, Jr., RB

Thriving on the ground, junior running back Kyle Feger averaged over nine yards per carry in Trinity's blowout win over Ballard. Feger rushed 26 times for 238 yards and two touchdowns while also hauling in one pass reception.

Male at Fern Creek

Can Fern Creek hang around with reigning Class 6A state champion Male?

Fern Creek has shown much improvement but faces a tough task as undefeated Male visits for a Class 6A, District 4 matchup.

The Tigers have strung together four straight wins after opening the season 2-2.

The unbeaten Bulldogs are rolling and boast wins over St. Xavier and Trinity. Through seven games, Male has outscored opponents 315-80.

Male and Fern Creek did not meet during the 2018 high school football season.

Kickoff for the Male-Fern Creek game is set for 7:30 p.m.
