North or South? Will South Oldham continue their winning ways? Or will North Oldham prove supreme? Who will win this battle of Oldham County?

South wins big in this one 48-0.

It won't be close... South wins big. This senior class for South is a hard working, talented bunch of kids. They've been playing together a long time, and have a system that's tough to beat.

Definitely an uphill climb for North....but I've certainly seen stranger things happen on a football field! (especially in rivalry games)

Seriously, Joe Gamsky's Mustangs are definitely still in rebuilding mode, and they are playing a brutal schedule, including this game against the #7 5A team, their rivals from Crestwood, South Oldham.

The Dragons are one of the four or five winningest 5A programs over the past four seasons, and have gone to the state semi-finals in 2 of the past 3 seasons. Jamie Reed's team acquitted itself well against #1 3A Christian Academy of Louisville in a 6-0 OT loss to start the season - and South hasn't been threatened since in two blowout wins over Eastern and Bullitt Central.

Last week, South registered 339 rushing yards against Bullitt Central, without any one runner going over 100 yards. J. T. Benson had 94 yards (on 2 carries) and Keaton Martin had 91 yards (on 6 carries) as South averaged a whopping 14.7 yards per carry. South only threw the ball three times - completing all three passes - for 101 yards and 2 TDs with no picks.

On the season, South has outgained its opponents, 1,007 yards to 399 in three games.

Defensively, South hasn't garnered many sacks (3), but they've been ballhawks against the pass - seven Dragons each have an interception.

North - trying to get its first win in the series since a 28-14 win in 2014 - will counter with a lineup that is starting to get some key players back from injuries. Star sophomore running back Ben Becerra is a playmaker, and returned last week against Louisville Holy Cross, scoring a touchdown. That has a domino effect for the Mustangs, as it allows Gamsky to put senior Sam Fadel back into the TE spot, where he is very effective as a receiver. That, in turn, will help take a little pressure off senior QB Blake McAfee, a dual-threat QB who burned Oldham County for a 30 yard TD run two weeks ago.

The Mustangs will be trying to end a six-game losing streak dating back to last season. This year, North has dropped games to North Bullitt, Oldham County, and Louisville Holy Cross.

The Dragons, however, are on a run against North. South has won the last four contests - shutting out the Mustangs in 3 of the four, including the last two - and they now lead the all-time series, 8-6. In the four game winning streak, they've outscored North, 150-7.
