Reds at Marlins (8/26 - 8/29)

Recommended Posts

Reds started a four game series with the Marlins last night and began it with a W, winning it 6-3.

Freddy Galvis seems to be proving that he was a solid addition to the team. He hit a 3-run homer and had 4 RBIs total.

Suarez hit his 36th homer of the season, which I believe is a career best, and he still has basically 5 weeks of the season left.

Ervin also clubbed a 2-run homer.

Sonny Gray with another pretty decent performance, minus the five walks.

Whew, ANOTHER 26 pitch first inning, love him but he’s got to learn to challenge more!

I agree, not throwing strikes led to the two runs.

I've said it before on here, a patient hitter can make Castillo look wild, due to the number of change-ups he throws that end up out of the strike zone.

I don't think it's a matter of "stuff". I think maybe there needs to be a different approach to batters the first time through the lineup for him. Whether that's on him, Tucker/Casali, the pitching coach...I don't know who's ultimately calling the pitches for him...but, they need to recognize when batters are taking those change-ups and not swinging at them.
