Reds at Cardinals (6/4 - 6/6)

Recommended Posts

The Reds travel to St. Louis for a 3 game series starting tonight. Hopefully the Reds can get back on track and pull off a nice series win against the Cardinals.

That's it? Where's the pitching match ups for each game? Come on man.

Well, we did ask him to go a series early, so maybe he didn't have enough time to go through his normal pre-series routine.

Anyway, here's tonight's matchup...

Reds: Luis Castillo (5-1, 2.46 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 82 strikeouts)

Cardinals: Genesis Cabrera (0-1, 7.36 ERA, 1.91 WHIP, 5 strikeouts)

We'll avoid Reds-killer Yadier Molina, who's on the 10 day IL with a thumb injury, which means his backup will hit .400 against us this series.

Reds need to come out and punch the Cardinals in the nose early.

I didn't stay up for it all, but looks like the good guys won 4-1. Nice start to the road trip.

Yep, just what they needed to start this thing off. Castillo with a shaky first, but then settled down. Peraza goes 2-3 with a walk, a run and 2 RBI. Puig with a solo shot (hopefully the start of many more this month). Bullpen gives up 4 hits over final 3 innings, but doesn't allow any to score.

Reds did what they needed to do to start this series...punch the Cards in the nose. Disco needs to keep the ball in the ballpark tonight, and let the bats have a shot at Dakota Hudson.

Reds put this out about an hour ago on their Facebook:

Joey Votto beat the shift twice Tuesday night to record a pair of hits and extend his on-base streak to 20 games, tied for the longest current streak in the NL. He is slashing .457/.474/.543 over his last eight games, having raised his season batting average 43 points. He also has an active 22-game on-base streak against the Cardinals.

What a slacker.
