Pleasure Ridge Park vs. Tates Creek (Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Baseball Quarterfinal)

PRP (27-9) was taken to extra innings for the third game in a row against Taylor County. And for the third straight time, in a win or go home situation, the Panthers emerged victorious. They continued to show their mettle, coming from behind twice against Taylor County to advance.

The Commodores (32-7) blew open a tie game with Somerset in the top of the seventh to ground the Jumpers in their Semi-State encounter. Strong work from the TC bullpen shut Somerset down after the Jumpers took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd.

Game time is Wednesday, June 5th at 8:30pm at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

While most would say McCracken/Rowan is the premier game of the quarterfinals, I'd argue this one carries the most historical weight. Pleasure Ridge Park and Tates Creek are among the top tier programs in Kentucky. PRP has won 24 regional titles and six state crowns, while Tates Creek has ten regional trophies and three state championships. PRP has lived on a knife's edge the entire postseason but they keep finding ways to win. Tates Creek won what is annually the toughest district in the state, breezed through the 11th region, and then used some timely late hitting to eliminate Somerset in the sectional. Look for a terrific ballgame.
