Mustang
Mustangs had no answer for Reid Jolly who put up 25 points and a boatload full of rebounds. Throw in a handful of assists and Jolly had a field night. Our Brossart Mustangs sprung from the gate, establishing a 5-0 early game lead, when the Camels returned the favor in a double dose, taking a 10-5 lead, before the Mustangs answered to make it 10-09 Camels with 49 seconds remained in the period, BUT that would be as close as our guys would come for the remaning 24 minutes and 11 seconds, as the Camels drew off to a 14-9 first quarter lead, and then out-battled the Mustangs 10-7 to take a somewhat manageable 24-16 lead to the locker room at halftime. The Camels ended proceedings on this night, holding the Mustangs scoreless for the first seven minutes of the third quarter while putting 19 points on their side of the scoreboard. The Camels lead was insurmountable at that point, as the quarter ended with the home team on top 43-20. Both teams matched 17 point fourth quarters, as this one went into the history books as a 60-37 Camels victory. Reid Jolly was unstoppable, scoring 25 points (unofficially) and grabbing a ton of rebounds. Andrew Helton, the Camels football quarterback contributed 14. For his efforts Jolly was named the game MVP. Mustang sophomore guard Carson Schirmer led the Mustangs with 11 points, while J.D. Schumacher tacked on 10. Schirmer was named the Brossart Player of the Game.
Oldercoach
Thanks, Mustang, for the sartorical game description. You always give us the vital insight that make us feel as if we knew how the game played-out. Notice how I hyphenated the played-out so I didn't end the sentence with a preposition? dd734
I must add, this game is much more than just an in town rivalry. Two $1000.00 scholarships are given each year to outstanding students. One to each school. Not only for their accomplishments in the classroom, but also their giving to the community. As well, students from both schools combined for over 15,000lbs of food collected to donate where needed. It’s an AWESOME atmosphere, with standing room only attendance every year.
