The Kentucky High School Football season is winding down and there were many games all over the state last week with district title implications on the line. Some locked themselves into the #1 seed, giving them a couple of home games in the playoffs. The 6A Class had 5 big time match-ups to lock up the 1 seed for the district. So let’s find out the Game-Set-Match.

The first big time match-up put #1 Frederick Douglass and #6 Henry Clay. Frederick Douglass got on the board first with a 70 yard pass from Cameron Jones and a two point conversion to go up 8-0. Henry Clay responded with a 29 yard field goal by Graham Wald. Frederick Douglass took control after and did not look back. They would cruise to a 36-3 win and the district title and #1 seed in district 7.

Another big time game in 6A was #2 Saint Xavier at #4 Butler. Saint Xavier got on the board in its first possession to go up 7-0. Saint Xavier would strike again on a Anthony Moretti 59 yard touchdown run to go up 14-0 late in the 1st quarter. The score stayed the same until late 4th quarter when Butler finally put points on the board but would have the extra point blocked to cut the lead to 14-6. Butler wouldn’t get another possession as Saint Xavier basically ran out the clock leaving just a mere 4.8 seconds for Butler to work with. Anthony Moretti had a big night with 175 yards of total offense and 1 touchdown.

The 6A top 10 continued its match-ups for the district title and seeding implications with #5 Trinity and #9 Ballard. Trinity jumped out early in this one with a 10-0 lead before Ballard cut into it at 10-7. Trinity would not relinquish the lead and held off a late charge by Ballard for the19-14 win. The injury bug would bite the Shamrocks again as Geremiah Smith left early in the first quarter due to a broken collarbone.

North Hardin and Central Hardin battled it out for the district 2 title. North Hardin made a statement in this match up with a 47-7 win. Eric Moore threw for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns plus a rushing touchdown. Running back Lavell Wright also carried the rock for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Madison Central and George Rogers Clark fought it out for the district 8 title and 1 seed. Madison Central got a big night out of quarterback Derrick Miller who threw for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 7 times for 49 yards and 1 touchdown. Jarrett Mullins accounted for 96 yards and 1 of the touchdowns. Freddy Chenault carried the ball for 79 yards and a touchdown. The Indians big night carried them to a 31-7 win.

The Rest of the Story

#3 Male routed #8 Manual, 48-0. Garrett Dennis threw for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns. The win gave Male the #2 seed in district 3.

#7 Scott County picked up an out of district win over Pleasure Ridge Park, 44-18. Scott County racked up over 350 yards of offense.

McCracken County beat Muhlenberg County, 44-0, to seal the 1 seed in district 1. We all knew the outcome of this game before it was played because Muhlenberg County wasn’t competitive with the likes of Daviess County and Henderson County and we know McCracken handled both by a couple scores.

Campbell County picked up a 35-7 win over Boone County giving them the 2 seed in district 6.

Conner picked up a 19-14 win over Cooper giving the Cougars the 1 seed in district 5. Christian Webster rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown
