The 6A Kentucky football season continues its wild ways as the 6A Game of the Week left us with shocking results. District play has also been in full swing and Simon Kenton and McCracken County have locked up the 1 seed in the playoffs for their respective districts.

Last week's "Game of the Week" featured #1 Male and #3 Saint Xavier. #1 Male got on the board first via a pass from a blown coverage. Saint Xavier punted on the next drive but they recovered the punt after it hit a Male player. Saint Xavier would turn that into points, knotting the game at 7-7 late in the first quarter. Saint Xavier scored again early in the 2nd to take the lead, 14-7. Saint Xavier would also take advantage of another Male mistake, running an interception back for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 21-7 just before halftime. Saint Xavier pushed the lead even further early in the 3rd quarter to 28-7. Male added a score late in the 4th to make it 28-13, but Saint Xavier was the victor, coming out on top and controlling and dominating the whole game in every aspect.

#4 Butler picked up an out of district win over Eastern, 41-0. Butler could make things interesting this week against Saint Xavier if they pick up a win putting the district in a 3 way tie for first. So, all eyes will be on that game next week for sure.

#5 Trinity picked up its 3rd win of the season in a blowout of district opponent Seneca, 63-0.

#6 Henry Clay won over Bryan Station, 31-12, to set up a a big district showdown this week with Frederick Douglass.

#7 Scott County beat Dunbar, 53-8. The Cardinals are locked into the #3 seed out of district 7 and will more than likely face Campbell County in the opening round of the playoffs.

#8 Manual emerged victorious in a close win over district rival Pleasure Ridge Park, 17-14.

#9 Ballard would blowout Jeffersontown, 51-0, setting up a big district match-up with Trinity this week for the 1 seed of that district.

#10 Simon Kenton locked up the #1 seed with a 27-7 win over Campbell County. The Pioneers were without their starting quarterback, Caleb Farfsing. The ground attack had close to 300 yards for the game.

6A Notes

Madison Central picked up a big district road win at Lafayette, 25-17.

McCracken County beat out-of-state opponent Dyer County (TN) 41-27.

Conner won over Ryle, 34-17. Conner had over 400 yards of offense with quarterback Jared Hicks contributing 200 passing yards and two touchdowns.

George Rogers Clark triumphed over district foe Tates Creek, 30-12, to set up a district showdown this week against Madison Central for the #1 seed in district 8.

North Hardin had a bye week, but next faces Central Hardin for the #1 seed of district 2.

District Implication Games

#1 Frederick Douglass at #6 Henry Clay

The battle of Lexington 6A powers. This is a game many didn’t expect. #6 Henry Clay shocked the world a few weeks ago, knocking off pre-season district favorite Scott County convincingly, 51-27.

#2 Saint Xavier at #4 Butler

If Saint Xavier gets the win they will lock up the 1 seed in district 3. If Butler wins it will throw the district in a 3 way tie for 1st. Always a fun game, this game now has lots of excitement added to it with the way things could shake up.

#5 Trinity vs. #9 Ballard

Trinity has had a very down season so far in 2018 but they will have a shot to lock up the 1 seed from district 4 against Ballard. Both teams have had some injuries and this game couple be interesting if Ballard can not turn the ball over and sustain drives. I’m not sure if quarterback Austin Carr will play but it would help Ballard tremendously if he could go on this game.

North Hardin vs. Central Hardin

The battle of Hardin County will lock up the 1 seed in district 2. Both teams have played tough schedules to prepare them for a game of this magnitude. Central Hardin hasn’t had the season they’ve hoped for at 3-5, but not sure too many teams would have better results with the same schedule. The winner here avoids a match-up with Male/Saint Xavier/Butler in the first round.
