Mustang
The Campbell County Camels avenged a regular season 3-0 loss to the Brossart Mustangs, upsetting the 37th District top-seed 2-1 in the district championship game on Thursday night at Scott High School. The Mustangs drew first blood when Tanner Griffin netted a ricochet originating from a Bryson Wieland corner kick. This came 15 minutes into the contest. Campbell County's Nick Phelps scored the equalizer on a PK, the result of a foul in the box by the Mustangs. The two teams battled even up in the second half until 8 minutes remained in the contest and thoughts began to turn to overtime and the inevitable PKs to determine the contest. At this point, the tournament MVP Brayden Reynolds scored one on one with the Brossart keeper, giving the Camels the 2-1 edge which stood up, sending the 37th District heavy hardware back to Claryville. The other members of the All-Tournament team were Nick Phelps, Grady Houston and Sam Jones for the Camels, and Allen Jump, Bradley Hickman, and Austin Alwell for the Mustangs. Both teams advance to next week's 10th Region Tournament to be played at the Sharp Middle School in Butler/Falmouth on natural grass.
