All State Baseball
Estill County defeated Powell County 3-2 on Thursday night (last night) to win their first ever regular season district championship and head into the post season/district tournament with a 1 seed, but that's not the only history the Lady Engineers are trying to make. The Lady Engineers have never won 20 games in a season, they currently stand at 18-8 overall with 2 regular season games left. Oct. 1st home vs. Red Bird, Oct. 4th @ Menifee County. Estill won both regular season games. Defeating Red Bird @ Red Bird 2-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-5) and Menifee County 3-0 (25=10, 25-17, 25-20)... So they might be some history made again for the Estill County Lady Volleyball Engineers next week!

The Professor
Old Letcher High School (pre-consolidation) and Whitesburg, another Letcher County Central consolidated school, dominated the region from the beginnings of regional volleyball back in the early ‘90s and the new school has dominated it since. Letcher County schools have pretty much had a lock on regional titles for nearly 3 decades. So it doesn’t surprise me that they’re at the top again this year.
