Votto has a .375 BA .505 OBP and 1.089 OPS with runners in scoring position for those who were complaining about him taking pitches.

Nobody is complaining about Votto's numbers. It's obvious that they are very good, but how much better could his rbi #s be if he was a little more agressive in certain situations. After all the Reds aren't paying him $25m/year to just get on base. If they wanted that they would have him batting leadoff.

Or his numbers would be worse. He's very disciplined and doesn't give in to the pitchers. Easy to develop bad habits out of the zone. His job is to not make outs and he does a darn good job at that.

If you watch the games, you know he takes way to many pitches especially with runners on base. The other night with bases loaded, he struck out without swinging at a pitch. In that situation, his job is to drive in runs, not look for a walk.

I agree, his numbers are great but they could be even better. Plus, he still can't run the bases.

How do you know his numbers would be better if he starts swinging at pitches out of the strike zone? He has a very good eye and is more times right than wrong when he doesn’t swing.

How many of his strike outs does he not swing at strike 3? Easily 60% if not more.

How many times does he kill a rally of any kind being a bonehead on the base paths? 2, 3, 4 times a month easy.

Votto been on base 3x and had a clutch RBI thug far.

Needed to balance out the constant negativity about him. Give it a rest.

Tough to give it a rest when he does something bonehead almost every game. His clutch RBI was canceled out by his error on a ball right at him.
