Pure Dominance that is Estill County Softball

Recommended Posts

Shirley Beard and her Estill County Lady Engineers are headed back to Owensboro's Jack Fisher Park to participate in the KHSAA State Tournament. Estill County defeated Perry Central 7-1 in the championship game of the 14th region.

Estill County was the host team for the region and they got things started by defeating Letcher Central 5-2 on Monday, Wolfe County 7-0 on Tuesday and Perry Central 7-1 on Saturday (today). Estill County came into the post season (district tournament) on a 2-7 record in their last 9 games, 5 of those 7 losses were in a row.

Since coming over to the 14th region from the 10th region back in 2006, Estill has went 155-5 against region opponents (that stat includes district opponents as region opponents), 49-4 against region opponents outside of the district teams. they have went 106-1 against district opponents during that span. Estill has compiled a 5 straight region titles (including the 10th region title back in 05) from 05-09 and another 5 region title streak from 2012-2016. Today's region title win makes 11 for the Lady Engineers.

Against 14th region teams, Estill County has scored a whopping 1,816 total runs (including district opponents) while giving up just 145. Estill is outscoring their district opponents 1,321-108. That's getting it done! About 95% of their district games have been run ruled.

Although, Estill County is the top dawg in the 14th region, Lee County, Wolfe County, Perry Central, Powell County have all made tremendous strides at getting better and more competitive especially Coach Campbell and Wolfe County.

To my knowledge, no other school has had more success in their region/district as Estill County.

If the rotation is still the same and not changed, Breathitt County will be the host of the region next season.

It's pretty amazing at what Estill County has accomplished in 12 years since joining the 14th region and that equals, PURE DOMINANCE!

They’ll have their hands full in Owensboro. Kind of a tough draw

That seems to happen a lot, teams with great records playing each other or getting a terrible draw against one of the powerhouse programs. But as they say... to be the best you have to beat the best.

Oh there's no doubt about that. I guess if they can find a way to get out of that first pod, anything can happen. I'm hoping to get to that first game Thursday night.

It went 7 innings but Boyle pulled away in the middle innings. It looked like the Rebels starting figuring the pitcher out in the 3rd and 4th innings, then they got going. Estill County is a good team. Congrats on a great season and good luck in the morning :thumb:
