So I'm assuming some of their current roster was brought in for the transition so will all the other player disperse or still have an opportunity to land a roster spot?

Theyll bring in who they want to bring in. Presumably a couple guys will be brought along but most will end up elsewhere.

All their contracts will end at the end of this season as FC Cincinnati will no longer exist as an entity that holds player contracts.

Will they also have carte blanche in regards to selecting unprotected MLS free agents since they really can't have an expansion draft for one franchise?

No one in MLS really has carte blanche since, unlike USL, MLS is a single-entity league. The league holds all the contracts and has a really complex system of allocation of rights for many players. But as long as they fall outside the allocation system, yeah, they’ll be able to sign who they need.

I am really happy for FC Cincinnati.

Happy to hear that Cincy gets another tram.

So is @theguru wrong in being happy for FCC since @Getslow says they will no longer exist?

Either way it’s a win for the city, but still can’t figure out the soccer org chart.

Per Joe Danneman, Jeff Berding has said that the FCC logo will remain the same "for now".

Here's what I fully expect to see happen. For the next two years, the logo/colors stay the same. They'll ride the excitement of the move to MSL in the current look (jersey sales). Then when the new stadium opens...suddenly there'll be a new logo/colors, so that all the true fans out there will have to go buy again...just so they can have the "new" look.

FC Cincinnati will be a team. That team will not own its players’ contracts.

Unlike most professional sports, MLS has a single-entity structure in which the league, not the teams, holds all player contracts. I was answering a specific question about which players might return for next season but wanted to point out that all such contracts will be terminated as the separate legal entity that is FC Cincinnati will no longer be a signatory to any player contracts.

The colors will almost surely stay the same. "Orange and Blue" is too ingrained in the club's identity now. May 29th is now "Orange and Blue Day" in the city of Cincinnati, and the color scheme was chosen in the first place because it's a combination that no other team in MLS uses.
