Regarding Versailles, the locals of Russiaville, Indiana pronounce the name roo-sha-vill. Most people pronounce Galveston, GAL-vest-on. The proper pronounciation of Galveston, Indiana is gal-VEST-on.

This thread is funny. Now I’m curious, how do the locals say Versailles? I personally say ver-sales.

 

It kind of reminds me of the great Louisville pronunciation debate.... as a former local, I say Looey-ville.
