oldgrappler
On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African-American Major League baseball player in the modern era. Besides being a great baseball player, he was a man of great courage. In honor of his great achievements as a baseball player and as a human being I want to post a pic of a baseball card of him that I have. It is a 1954 Topps. In addition, I am posting a card of Larry Doby. On July 5, 1947, Doby came to bat as a pinch hitter for the Cleveland Indians, thus becoming the first African-American to play in the American League. Unfortunately, I don't have a card of Doby as a Cleveland Indian so the next best thing is this 1957 Topps card of him in the first season he was with the Chicago White Sox. He played CF and has, like Robinson, been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
