Randy Sanders docked pay for smacking a player's helmet

Recommended Posts

East Tennessee State football coach Randy Sanders lost one week’s pay in the softest way possible. The former Kentucky and Florida State offensive coordinator was reprimanded for slapping a player in the helmet.

WOW.....Man what has football become? You slap a player's helmet and you get in trouble for it. Football has became soft. Get out the flags

Sorry, a slap to the helmet is not an appropriate form of discipline. Any contact by a coach to a player as a form of discipline or a way to reprimand a player is not appropriate. And it never has been. Whacking players on the helmet is not a sign of toughness for a coach, and not doing it doesn’t make you soft.
