Greenup County Football 2018

Recommended Posts

Greenup County returns alot of experience on both sides of the ball including all starting skill players from last years squad. 3/5 starting lineman and 7 starters on defense. This team will be exciting to watch offensively with school record setting receiver Patrick Kelly catching passes from Jr Eli Sammons. Dual Threat Running back Dalton Halstead will be featured in the back field. The Defense will be anchored by Senior Brecken Thomas at middle LB, a three year starter. The cast on defense will feature returning starters Kieth Sparks (Sr, DE), Alex Wellman (Sr, C), Gary Adkins (Sr, DT) and Tanner Euton (Jr, LB)

Halstead came out of nowhere to have a breakout season in 2017. His versatility makes him very difficult to defend. Good speed, change of direction, vision, and toughness. He could have a huge year.

Obviously Sammons will get plenty of ink. His poise in the pocket and quick decision making/progressions will continue to get better. He's already got plenty of arm talent.

Greenup will have to replace Isaiah Greene and some key linemen on both sides of the ball (Urbina, Tolliver, Short), but overall, they should continue to move forward as a program in year three under Grizzle.

I don't know that they'll make up much ground on what should be a loaded Johnson Central squad. A better question is, can Greenup catch Ashland this year?

Johnson Central always tough especially with Joe Jackson returning to the mix but I think Greenup can be competitive with Ashland this year.

Talented group of seniors who’ve played together since 1st grade. Should be an exciting year for the Musketeers.

Other names to be on the lookout for with this Greenup Team is Austin Evans. He will be a Jr this season after starting last season at WR. Sammons has been throwing to Evans for a long time and they have alot of chemistry and Jacob Roe, (Jr. OT) who will be in his 3rd year starting. A real special talent and physical presence at 6'7" 310lbs with good feet and a bit of a nasty streak
