Beechwood 54 Newport 53

Recommended Posts

Beechwood game plan was excellent and the Tigers stuck to it even when they were down nine in the first half. Beechwood controlled the tempo and made this a half-court game on both ends of the floor. The Tigers simply out executed Newport in half court basketball. Newport settled for 3-pointers all night and they made a really good percentage of them. Newport may have made more 3-point field goals than two point field goals in the game. Beechwood probably won the rebounding battle.

Duncan Baugh made big plays in the last minute for Beechwood. He took a charge that fouled Harding out of the game and then hit the stick back basket at the buzzer to get Beechwood the win.

Ben Toebbe earned the MVP award on both ends of the floor. Beechwood ran their offense through him all night and Toebbe guarded Burries a big chunk of the night for the Tigers.

Great game and a great win for the Tigers basketball program.
