1. Knott County Central (5-1): The Patriots continue rolling and piling up the wins. Knott Central didn’t have a problem getting past district foe, Cordia as they routed the Lions 83-65. The Patriots would pick up another win on Saturday as they defeated 15th region’s Belfry 52-49 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Shootout at Pike County Central.

 

Knott Central travels to Breathitt County on Tuesday, hosts Letcher Central on Wednesday and will participate in the KY Bank Challenge at Rowan County this weekend where they will face Louisville Central on Friday.

 

 

2. Perry County Central (3-3): The Commodores went 2-1 last week, picking up wins over Leslie County 63-58 and Buckhorn 73-35. The Commodores, however, fell to Ashland 76-63 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Shootout at Pike County Central.

 

The Commodores will host #3 Cordia on Tuesday, then head to Rowan County to participate in KY Bank Challenge and will face Louisville Central on Friday and George Rogers Clark on Saturday.

 

 

3. Cordia (3-4): The Lions picked up their 3rd consecutive win but that was short lived as they would fall in their very next game. The Lions would defeat district foe Letcher Central 70-63 but would fall to Knott Central 83-65. Senior guard Kareem McDonald leads the way for the Lions so far this season with 23 points a game.

 

Cordia will travel to Perry Central on Tuesday and then head to Prestonsburg for a weekend tournament this coming weekend. Cordia will open the tournament with Pikeville, who is coming off a huge win over Paul Dunbar.

 

 

4. Wolfe County (4-3): After suffering back to back losses after starting the season off 2-1, the Wolves seem to have gotten back on track, picking up two straight wins last week, not to mention they were against district foes. Wolfe defeated Jackson City 65-60 and Breathitt County 66-64.

 

WolfeCounty will host #5 Estill County on Tuesday and Hazard on Friday.

 

 

5. Estill County (2-5): Despite going 1-1 last week, the Engineers are starting to click on all cylinders. Estill County routed district foe Owsley County 84-55. Estill County would fall to South Laurel on Saturday 52-46 in the Bobby Keith Classic at Clay County, despite the loss, Estill County had a really good showing against a team that had routed North Laurel the night before.

 

Estill County will travel to Campton on Tuesday to face Wolfe County and then head to Rowan County for the KY Bank Challenge. Estill County will face Boyd County on Friday and Franklin County on Saturday.

 

 

6. Breathitt County (4-4): Breathitt County has dropped two straight since picking up their 4th win on the season. The Bobcats fell to district foe Wolfe County 66-64 and 69-63 to Pike County Central in the Buffalo Wild Wings Shootout.

 

Breathitt County will look to do the unthinkable and knock off #1 Knott Central on Tuesday, home court advantage will help the Bobcats, but will it be enough? Breathitt will host Leslie County on Thursday and will face North Laurel in the KY Bank Challenge at Rowan County.

 

7. Leslie County (3-3): The Eagles picked up their 3rd win on the season last week by defeating Powell County 76-66. The Win snapped their 3 game losing streak.

 

Leslie County will host 13th region powerhouse, Williamsburg on Tuesday and travel to Breathitt County on Thursday.

 

 

8. Powell County (3-3): After a hot start to the season, the Pirates have found them selves 1-3 in the past 4 games. The Pirates are getting good production out of seniors Payton Barnett and Carlos Hernandez who are averaging 17 and 14 points a game.

 

Powell County will look to get their first district wins this week as they host both Owsley County on Tuesday and Lee County on Friday.

 

 

9. Hazard (3-2): Hazard is starting to get things going as they’ve picked up their 2ndand 3rd wins on the season last week, cruising past Lee County 68-23 and Buckhorn 46-34.

 

Hazard travels to Wolfe County on Friday before having the holiday off.

 

10. Letcher County Central (2-5): Letcher Central defeated Jenkins 65-44 this past week to stop their bleeding and end their 3 game losing streak.

 

Letcher Central will host June Buchanan on Monday, travel to Knott Central on Wednesday and then play both Eastern and Floyd Central this Friday and Saturday in the KY Bank Challenge at Rowan County.

 

11. Buckhorn (2-6): The Wildcats have struggled mightly this season, having lost 5 of their last 6 games.

 

12. Jackson City (3-5): After starting the season off 3-1, the Tigers have lost 4 straight.

 

13. Owsley County (5-2): After starting the season on a 4 game win streak, the Owls have lost 2 of their past 3 games including a beat down from district foe, Estill County 84-55.

 

14. June Buchanan (1-5): The Crusaders have lost 3 straight since their winning their only game on the season so far.

 

15. Riverside Christian (2-7): The only wins the Rams have this season have been against Kentucky School F/T Deaf.

 

16. Lee County (0-10): The Bobcats are still getting pounded by their opponents. Not to mention, they’ve not even scored 250 points in 10 games. Bad times in Beattyville.

Good job ASB.

Knott and Perry at the top and after those two teams the number 3 through 9 spots aren’t much difference. Any of those games would be narrow winning margins.

The only difference I might make is move Leslie up a notch or two. Although they’ve lost 3 games they have lost to good competition in fairly close contest (except the game with Perry Central in the WYMT).
