Week 2 was a tumultuous one, and finds a new squad at the top of the heap. Two weeks in, and there's only one unbeaten left. But...

1. Campbell County (4-1, 2-0 Region). The Camels served notice this week that, after losing to Cooper in the season opener, they're still a force in the 10th. Coach Russell's Camels took a trio of contests this time around, beginning with a 77-59 win over Covington Holy Cross that found them down 8 at halftime. Reid Jolly and Tanner Clos had 26 and 21 respectively. The Camels then took to the 40th district on Friday and Saturday; first handling the Indians of Montgomery County 67-50. The Cardinals of Clark County were next to fall, with the Camels erasing a first-half double-digit deficit to eventually prevail 78-70. Jolly led the way again with a monster 30/18 effort. Campbell plays three road games in five days this week - Paris, Newport and Dixie.

2. Clark County (3-2, 3-1 Region). Last week's top dog had a rough week two. First was a 21-point defeat at the hands of Madison Central in which the foul-plagued Cardinals were paced in scoring and rebounds by Brennan Canada with 12 and 7. The Cards then nearly squandered a 37-17 lead at Pendleton County before finally pulling out a 59-55 win with Canada, Will Philpot and Chase Taylor all in double figures. Four Cardinals hit double digits in the next day's home loss to Campbell County; Philpot leading the way with 20. The Cards are at Woodford and home to district rival Paris this week. Clark is still looking for a complete four-quarter effort at this stage of the season.

3. Paris (4-0, 2-0 Region). The Greyhounds boast the region's only unblemished record after week 2, handling 40th-district foes Montgomery County and Bourbon County with relative ease. Senior guard Eric Johnson poured in 32 against the Indians, with running mates Marcus Ashford and Travis Strings adding 14 and 12. Johnson added another 27 in the (very short) road trip to arch-rival Bourbon County. We will know a lot more about the Hounds after week 3, which finds Campbell County, Clark County and Henry Clay on the schedule.

Here's where things get dicey. The next several teams could get tossed in a hat and the draw will probably be just as accurate as the following.

4. Pendleton County (3-1, 2-1 Region). Coach Belcher's squad blasted 38th district foe Nicholas County by 36 on Tuesday before falling to Clark County at home on Friday by 4. Dontaie Allen paced the Wildcats with 22; and Grant Walsh had a hot hand from beyond the arc, draining a handful of long-range bombs. Walsh is connecting from distance at a 43% clip. The Cats travel to St. Patrick on Monday, then host Harrison and Bourbon this weekend.

5. Scott (2-2, 1-2 Region). Scott dispatched Beechwood with ease 83-58 at home on Wednesday with Nelson Perrin, Chad Ohmer and Michael Meister all reaching double figures. The Eagles couldn't hold off Mason County at the Fieldhouse a couple of days later, though; giving up an uncontested layup on a last-second inbounds play and falling 73-72. Jaycob Pouncey joined the aforementioned trio in double figures in this one. Coach Fromeyer said after the game that his squad took too many threes and missed too many layups and charity tosses. Scott hosts Harrison County and travels to Aiken (Cincy) this week.

6. Mason County (2-2, 2-1 Region). Coach Biggs' Royals took one on the chin at home, falling to Bourbon County 73-68, before clipping the Scott Eagles' wings on Friday. Steward, Dunaway and Lofton scored 61 of Mason County's 68 against Bourbon, with Steward adding 10 boards in a career game. Leevi Dunaway had 23 points, and Jaylen Lofton added 17 and had a team-high 13 rebounds. Coach Biggs is looking for a couple more contributors to help the Royals' consistent scorers. Bracken, East Carter and Male in week 3.

7. Bourbon County (2-1, 1-1 Region). The always-reliable Titus Ransom led the Colonels with 24 in the win over Mason County at the Fieldhouse; and was joined in double-figure scoring by Jeremy Moran, Zach Workman and Elijah Chenault. Ransom put up his "typical twenty" against Paris; with no one else hitting double digits. Away games at Montgomery County and Pendleton County will test Coach Campbell's Colonels this week.

8. Montgomery County (0-4, 0-3 Region). 0-4 and ranked number 8? The Indians have fallen to three of the 10th's better teams; losing to Paris and Campbell County this week (and Scott last week). Myron Ralls and Pharoah Davis each had 15 in the loss at Paris. Coach Daniel's charges look to notch their first win of the season this week, hosting Bourbon County and Augusta.

9. Bishop Brossart (2-2, 1-0 Region). The Mustangs notched their first region win of the young season with a 75-52 decision over St. Patrick that saw 15 players hit the scoring column. J.D. Schumacher ed the way with 16. Schumacher poured in 20 in a 77-66 loss to Beechwood, with Ethan Eilerman adding 16. Three contests on the schedule this week - hosting Frankfort and traveling to Bracken County and Highlands.

10. Robertson County (3-2, 2-0 Region). The Black Devils started the week with a 91-56 thrashing of Bracken County on their home floor. Sophomore big man Alex Schalch had 17 and 12 in this one. Following an 84-41 drubbing of Burgin, the Devils fell to visiting Bath County at the Devil Dome on Satorday, with Bobo Swanston on the bench nursing a hand injury. One game this week - at Nicholas County.

11. Harrison County (1-2, 1-1 Region). The Breds notched their first win of the season in their only contest last week, edging Nicholas County 71-69 on the road. Stats are incomplete (through 2 games only), with Turley, Free and Bryant in double figures. A busy 4-game schedule upcoming - Scott, Grant, Pendleton and Anderson.

12. Nicholas County (1-3, 1-3 Region). The Jackets dropped a pair of games last week - big to Pendleton and small to Harrison. Morris, Hamilton and Switzer are all averaging double figures. Fleming and Robertson this week.

13. Augusta (3-2, 2-2 Region). The Panthers handled Calvary Christian and Silver Grove to climb above the .500 mark. Pendleton, Heritage and Montgomery County this time around.

14. Bracken County (1-4, 0-2 Region). Excepting the game against Williamstown, Coach Hinson's Polar Bears are struggling offensively, putting up just 8 points in the second half last night against Western Hills. They get Mason County and Bishop Brossart at home this week.

15. Calvary Christian (2-1, 0-1 Region). The Cougars are showing some life under new coach Dale Brown, taking 2 of 3 last week and the only loss a 6-pointer to Augusta. Heritage, Bellevue and Beth Haven this week.

16. St. Patrick (1-4, 0-2 Region). Senior point guard Baylen Bauer led the Saints with 13 in the loss to Brossart. Model, Pendleton (yikes!) and Trimble in week 3.

17. Silver Grove (0-3 pending Covington Latin result, 0-1 Region). Trains are averaging just 23 points per contest.

Player of the Week: Several deserving, but this week came down to two. While Paris guard Eric Johnson had big numbers as usual, Campbell County's Reid Jolly did the same and helped take down the previous number 1 and gets the nod by the slimmest of margins in week 2.

Good job mcpapa. Your rankings are much more accurate than the ones on Twitter by 10thRegionBall, which has Bourbon, Robertson and Harrison ranked too high. Only thing I would change in yours is move Montgomery down a couple of spots. Otherwise, spot on it is!
