Bishop Brossart 58 Ludlow 32

Recommended Posts

Mustangs, suffering from Beechwood hangover, started slowly and then warmed to their task in defeating the defending three time undefeated NKAC Division III champs 58-32.

Zach Hamberg knocked home four 3-pointers en-route to leading the Mustangs with 16 points.

J.D. Schumacher went double-figures for the second time in 24 hours, putting up 13 followng a 20 point outing yesterday, and the Sophomore Ethan Eilerman just missed his first career double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Ten Mustangs put ink in the scorebook.

Brossart evens their season record at 2-2.

No Ludlow Panther scored in double figures. Trey Donahue and Max Hathaway put up 9 points apiece. Ludlow falls to 1-4.

God love the Ludlow Panthers who are not afraid to venture out of their Division III comfort zone and take on some tall timber. They have losses to Conner, St. Henry and now Brossart. On their dance card they have Highlands, Simon Kenton, Dixie Heights, and Scott.

Good win for the Mustangs. Looks like they took some lumps last year but the experience is paying off this season. Ludlow is definitely always tough to play against and makes it difficult to score. They definitely take on a tough schedule and it only helps them in the long run.

One thing of note. They aren’t defending D3 champs. They did win several in a row but came up short last year.

You are absolutely correct. Dayton got them twice last season.

My bad. I must have leap-frogged 2016-17 when doing my research.

They also have a loss this year to Calvary Christian, which could diminish their chances for a rebound D-III title.

Correct. Things could be very interesting in D3 this season. And I expect Brossart will more than challenge all their D2 opponents this year. Though they probably have bigger goals on their mind within the district and region.

Our immediate focus will be on winning the 10th Region "A" and getting back to Richmond.

Paris, the defending "A" State Champ is in our bracket and seems to have re-loaded. Should be another Paris-Brossart semi-finals dawgfight IF we can both advance to that round.

The 37th District has come up brutally tough again this year. Scott blasted Beechwood and Campbell County just took out George Rogers Clark.

We are deep and talented and will continue to improve throughout the campaign. Our date with the Camels in the Crosstown Classic on January 5th should give us a good handle on where we stand with district rivals.
