Recommended Posts

1. John Hardin (1-0): John opened the season Saturday with a lopsided victory at Shelby County 88 to 51. Pearson started his Mr. Basketball campaign with a 38 and 10 night. Bulldogs showed why they are the region favorites. They are without a major contributor in Witherspoon, who is suspended.

2. Adair County (2-1): Indians took care of business vs Cumberland and at Green County. They beat Cumberland 87 to 48 and Green County 85 to 65. Indians then took on nationally ranked Olive Branch, Saturday, at the Marshall County Hoop fest, where they lost 91 to 76. Harmon has been as good as advertised, as he has averaged 37 points per game in the first week of the season.

3. Larue County (1-0): Larue opened the season up Saturday with a home win vs East Jessamine 65 to 53. Goode is off to a good start for the season as he led the Hawks with 23 points.

4. Elizabethtown (2-0): The panthers have been very impressive to start off the season. They beat Marion 80 to 63 and beat one of the top 4th region teams Monroe County, 81 to 77 at Campbellsville. Harding and Durbin had 16 and 17 points in the game vs Marion.

5. Central Hardin (2-0): The bruins have had a great start to the season. They beat Nelson County at Nelson, 62-25, and they also beat a very good Southwestern team 58 to 51. The win over Southwestern at home was the best win in the 5th region this first week.

6. Taylor County (1-1): The Cardinals have struggled to start off the year. They escaped Washington County with a 74 to 73 win, and lost at Spencer County 72 to 52. 9. North Hardin (1-2): The trojans opened the season up vs Oldham County with a 64 to 48 loss. They beat Fort Knox on the road and loss to Paducah Tilghman at Campbellsville 79 to 47. Like Bardstown, expect them to improve a lot through the year.

10. Washington County (3-2): Washington had a busy week as they played 5 games. Lost the first two, at Model 74 to 70, and at home to Taylor 74 to 73. They have won 3 in a row in a tipoff classic in Berea. They beat White Academy TN 81 to 41, beat Dayton 62 to 26, and beat Lee County 73 to 21.

11. Caverna (2-0): Started off the year by winning two 5th region games. Been a pleasant surprise so far.

12. Green County (0-2): Green is 0 and 2, but played two region contenders to open the season. The schedule will only get easier.

13. Campbellsville (1-1): The eagles took a bad opening loss, but recovered with a nice win over Hart.

14. Hart County (1-2): The raiders started off hot, but have lost two straight.

Nice work.

Last night's Bethlehem-TNHS game was interesting in terms of figuring out the 19th District early. TNHS led by 6 to start the 4th but went cold, as Bethlehem rallied back to force OT, then hit enough FTs to win by 4.

Nelson Co. has also struggled early, but gets Bethlehem on its home floor Friday with a chance to go to 2-0 in district. Bardstown has struggled early with youth and some injuries so they're a work in progress.

It may be Washington Co's year to win the 19th. It's going to be an interesting race.

Some interesting scores from last night.

The Larue County/North Hardin score was closer than expected. As well as the Central Hardin/Grayson County score. Bowling Green did a number on Etown, the win wasn't as shocking as the score. Lastly Campbelsville tops Taylor County, although TC is still without their PG.
